I got four letters today, but unfortunately he didn't sound good at all.  He is very, very homesick.  He said boot camp isn't that hard, but missing his family was awful.  I  am guessing it is just being away from home for the first time coupled with the holidays had him down when he wrote.  Now that he's actually in training, I hope he won't have time to think about how homesick he is.

I got 2 letters today!!!  He sounded so good! He stated that IT was hard but Texas HS football prepared him well for it, so he was doing fine.  Then he says "Mom, you will be shocked to know that out of 68 recruits, I'm in the top 5 of making my rack".  This made me laugh as his bed making skills at home are...lets just say not skilled! He said that he wasn't home sick but thinks of me everyday.

These letters were well worth the wait!  I am so much more at peace knowing he is OK.  Hang in there, if you haven't gotten a letter, you will.

I got two letters today and a third one addressed to my husband. My son sounds so good. He sounds tired, and I think he is trying to keep upbeat for me, but he is sounding wonderful!  Thank goodness, now I feel better!

Finally, we got a letter today from our son!!!  It was mailed on Jan 3rd and we received today on the 6th.  Not bad.  He had received some of our letters as well.  He sounded upbeat, but has been sick since day 3.  He gave me some info on letters and calls.  If they do good on their inspection (which is Friday) they will get a phone call for 30 minutes.  Also, if they are well behaved they get an hour on week 3 sometime.  But they take time off if they do bad.  He says their RDC's like to punish them in ways other than physical because it is becoming some way easier for them.  Interestingly he says his favorite thing is marching, even though it is hard to figure out.  He mentioned not being able to talk much so he has little to write about, and that he had no idea how much he would miss music.  However, he says that his division sings together to entertain themselves.  He also on division staff as Laundry Petty Officer.  What a joke since he never did much when he was at home and even when away at college would still bring home everything he owned dirty for me to wash.  I guess they really are growing up!!!  To those of you that have not yet gotten a letter, hang in there.  I know it's tough I was becoming very weary.

Okay in the last few minutes I have received two emails from different people saying they received a letter from my son today. This is one of those time I really DISLIKE living in another country!!!! I can't wait to hear from him and I am VERY jealous that others are getting letters before I do. :(

Tomorrow is his birthday so maybe, just maybe there will be a present for me in the form of a letter in the mail. Of course I don't want to get my hopes up. If people in the US are getting letters from him today it will be next week at the earliest before I get any here.
