I am a proud Mom no matter how this Navy career goes but at this time my son is in Ship 5! I am writing him a letter of encouragement and trying to stay positive for him! I wasnt on board with this whole Navy career but I believe in him so I will stand behind him in all his decisions! Back to the letter writing and waiting on a phone call!

Thanks for all of your reassurance....The support really helps!  It is amazing

what you can imagine or dream-up when you don't know what is going on.:)

AMEN, txnavymom!  AND...once you all become "veteran" moms, you may want to drop back into the PIR groups and share what you have learned with the "newbies."  Pay it forward, you know?  I can tell you...it's lots of fun!

This site has been a life saver for me!

It's ok, Wife64:  Just keep things positive on here whenever possible!  Of course, if anyone needs help or advice if their recruit is in a difficult position, please post.  I had that situation because I was so "new" to the Navy and the site...and asked many questions when my son went through. JessiceBSailor, who was in the same PIR group, was wonderful reaching out to me.  We are all here for one another...and we veterans want to try and answer questions when we can from our own experiences.

Ladies I am so sorry I said that part about people "dropping." I really didn't mean to worry any of you or offend any of you who are in that situation. I'm so so sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings or gave anyone undue anxiety about this whole situation.

Ditto what Jessica said, MustangMom.  No news IS good news.  If they are setback (asmoed) for any reason, you will be called right away.  Just remember...this communication separation is training for us moms when our sailors are deployed and there are long periods of time with no contact!

This "dropping out situation" worries me!  I know my son is strong, but without

any communication, it is driving me crazy wondering how he is doing or if he is

struggling?? Do the recruiters get any information on the recruits once they

go to Basic. I was thinking about calling his recruiter to see if he had heard

anything on his progress....Am I crazy or what?
