Merry Christmas to all!  We have still not received our letter yet....not sure what's going on...getting very depressed over the whole thing.  My husband and I have written our recruit everyday since we received his address from his recruiter on 12/16 and we sat again this morning at the butt crack of dawn and wrote him again..both of us with tears in our eyes and a prayer in our hearts that he is safe and happy.  We miss him so much and are truly praying we may hear something from him today...I know we won't get mail today, but maybe, just maybe we will be blessed with a phone call.  God bless all of you!!

Well today is Christmas and my hubby and I are really quiet.  We got our form letter yesterday but and I have read that some have gotten phone calls.  That of course got our hopes up but we know that we may not get a call. We are missing our son so much but know that he will be a great Man the next time we see him at PIR.  I have to say as a parent this is the hardest thing we have ever done.  Now that I have an address I have lots of letters to send off on Monday.  Most of the family is writing too.  God Bless all of us Navy Moms and Dads and God bless our troops here an away.  Merry Christmas to everyone.

kandio:  Here's praying for calls today for you all...when my son was there last Christmas, he got to call on Christmas Eve.  No guarantee for calls...but here's praying!  Hoping you can talk to your daughters about how cool it will be to see their BIG BROTHER SAILOR one day.  Went to Christmas Eve service last night and sat behind a sailor in his blues...just so proud to see those sailors!

DebBee--I also have the same ship 03 div 086 from the recruiter (no form letter yet). The way I'm looking at it is that we have the last division so we are more likely to be able to spend more than just one day with them after PIR. I guess the earlier divisions are most likely to be grad and go. So it's a good thing to be in a later division!

Is it true that I will get BAH though for my zip code? The recruiter said that most of the first paycheck would be taken up by personal items but not all of it (my husband's an E3) and that I would have BAH (half of a month's) in that first check as well.

I just don't understand how they expect us to live for 4-6 weeks without pay or BAH. I mean, we saved as much as we could but it's hard to save with limited income.

I got my form letter also today.  This was the best Christmas present! I felt so bad because I slept through the 30 second phone call but I do have the message he left and listen to it often.  Merry Christmas everyone, I know I will be thinking about my recruit all day and at least I can address all the letters I've written and get them ready to mail.
