I have been very fortunate. My sailors A school was just about two months long. He got his leave and has been home for a long weekend already. We are planning a week long vacation near Beaufort and even though he will have to work, we will get to spend some quality time with him. I hope that you all get to see your sailors soon. We just passed the 6 month mark, but it feels like a year to me!

Hey Ladies, been awhile since I have been on this page.  Hope this finds all of you well.  My sailor graduates A school June 14th.  We will be back in GL for that.  He will be home for the last few weeks of June then he goes to NC for his FMBT then that is where he is to be for 2 years.  Closer to FL so that makes him happy.  He really does not like Chicago in the winter, lol.  Have a safe Memorial Day weekend.  God Bless those who gave for us.

This is so true Kathy. My son has grown so much.  I can't get over the saying "he leaves a boy and comes home a man"!!! Well, it is SO TRUE!!! I am enjoying him being home but at the same time in awe of some of the things that he says now and the way he acts. He is still my little boy at heart but he is truly a great man now!!! So proud of him!!!!! Will so miss him when he leaves Saturday morning! I may be back on here crying to all of you once again!!!

Wonderful to hear how our son/daughters journeys are going....I have been giving my son a hard time while he is home...he is such a small town boy going on carrier, which has population twice the size of the town he grew up in!   !LOL  So fun to have him home an live and laugh with him again, he has changed in so many ways( for the better) But still very much the same at home :)

Hi all glad to hear everyone is doing well. My sailor is home on leave right now!!! SO HAPPY!!!! Cooking all of his favorites, of course! My husband asked why I got up at 5:30 this morning and cooked him (my son) homemade biscuits and sausage and I told him because I CAN!!! LOL  He looks wonderful, he is so happy and I am so proud of him. He is in D.C. for 2 years serving as Ceremonial Honor Guard and he is loving it!!! After that he will go back to GL for his A school. Good luck to everyone and their sailors I hope you all have a WONDERFUL summer and I hope EVERYONE gets to see their sailor soon!!!

Mine is an HT hopefully they will be able to make connections.  My son finally left GL and is super excited to be relocating to warmer climate, were from WI so he cant wait.( wish I was going with him) I have heard that area is very nice and it was his top choice of places to go.  Hopefully he will send his mother a ticket to visit!

My son has been at his duty station for over two weeks.  He has been doing training so far, but he starts his actual MA duties this week. He loves what he's doing. When I got those first letters from boot camp, I would have never believed that he would end up so happy in the Navy, but he really is. He's only 9-10 hours from home, so I plan on visiting a couple of times this summer.  Can't wait!!

It's great to hear updates from our 2/18/11 gang! I miss the daily posts on here, but know everyone is involved in new areas. Our sailor will be at Great Lakes for AECF (FC) until the end of the year. He's almost done with ATT and is hoping they are on hold before A starts, lol! A bunch of them played paintball over the weekend thru a MWR program. I'm hoping he can play some beach volleyball once the weather gets nice. He said there are two sand courts outside his ship. Yay for fun stuff!

Good Morning to all... My son finished his A school and I have him home for 15 days...yea!!!!!  We are so excited to see him and spend time with him, although he is working this week while on leave at the recuiting office which is good since his sisters are in school during the day anyway.  Then off to San Diego, he has been assigned to the USS Carl Vinson he is super excited for his next journey, he choose to do his C school at later date. Thank you so much for all your support over the past months

Hello All!  Good to touch base again- I hope that you had a happy Easter- I found myself really missing my son again then; but it is very nice to Skype and facetime and facebook with him!  We are trying to plan to get to Groton, but won't make it for his sub school graduation, sadly.  Talking to him today, we discovered that he didn not get the DVD of his PIR, and never picked up the support package I sent through the Navy that had a coin in it.  He went to the Navy ball- flew my daughter and her roommate out and they had a great time, and he got a coin there; now he really wants the one from Great Lakes.  Any ideas how we can go back in time to retrieve the DVD and the coin?
