My son is still in GL he will be starting A school in few weeks or so he thinks, suppose to last 22 days then maybe a quick trip home before C school(either Norfolk or San Diego. He is doing wonderful but very homesick some days, we can sure tell when he has days off, he calls all day!!!
Hi Mountainmama,
So glad your sailor is doing well. My sailor is doing AWESOME! He is in D.C. for Ceremonial Honor Guard. He just finished the first phase of training for that. He will be in D.C. for 2 years. He is really loving it and is making some great friends! He is trying to come home sometime next month. We shall see............ take care!
Update: My son will graduate A school on April 22 and then come home for a couple of weeks. After that, he will be off to Beaufort, SC where he is assigned as MAA. I'm so thrilled to have him relatively close. And I'm soooo proud!
How are your sailor's all doing?
Yes, I got my last week. I was so happy because at the end there was a good shot of my son getting a big hug from his brother. I got teary-eyed watching it again.I wish I could be in San Antonio for his graduation from A school!
My husband sent Anthony his first package next-day, supposed to be there by 10:30 am next day (Thurs). Paid an obscene $52., using UPS, West Palm Bch to Pcola. Next day, no package, OOPPS! It's in Bradenton (went from coast of Florida to west coast) It'll be there by 10:30 Friday. Friday. OOPPS! Now its in Jacksonville. Back to the east coast. Although it was traveling north every day. They don't deliver on the weekends. Finally got there about 11:00 on Monday. Don't know that UPS is any better. I'd stick to supporting the USPS!!
This time is hard for our sailors. You are right they are finding their independence and we are learning to let go. These are all hard to deal with. My husband and I set up skype with our son in Pensicola. That seemed to help our son feel more connected to us and us to him. Hang it there Tchmom we are all here for you to listen and help. Will pray for you and your sailor.
Getting out is not a problem for him. He has made friends and is getting around. He said he's kind of homesick and my thing is he is NOT calling me AT ALL!! I feel like we were more connected when he was in BC!! I admitt that I sent hem a text that laid on the guilt. My husband called him and let him know that I was upset that he doesn't call me. He STILL didn't call me. I have called him a few times. I ask questions, he give me short answers. There is no conversation. Just an "interview" kind of interaction. I sent him clothes and things he asked for (he'll text me for stuff he wants). He got the box today. I made him some peanutbutter/ chocolate treats and a box of cookies. He called his dad excited and said thanks. I got a text tonight saying thanks for cleaning his chain. I am so hurt. My husband doesn't understand. He said I need to lay off him.
Thanks for listening ladies. Nice to know you are still here...
