You are better off mailing them the civilian clothes, rather than handing them off at the airport, as they may not be able to have them until they earn the right to. If you want to take a chance I would take maybe 1 change of clothes but no more than that until you know for sure they can have them. Even if they get to take them they still may have to turn them in until they have the okay to wear them. What applies to one person may not apply to another so be sure to get the correct information from your sailor.

qiltblue- at PIR they sell dixie cup hats for kids, they are so cute and a very good idea for anyone who is taking children to PIR because the Sailors are not permitted to let anyone wear their cover. :-)

Mushell, yes, that is only if you are meeting them at the airport. Of course you can bring them something to wear in the hotel room but they have to be in uniform when they are in public.

I remember reading somewhere that we can bring them some "civilian" clothes in a black only backpack.  Is this true only if we are seeing them off at the airport?  Thanks for any responses

BTW, my grandson is the little boy wearing a green t-shirt in the second row (2nd from right).  He wants his Uncle Sailor to come home, so he can see his hat and uniform!

quiltblue.........How precious:)))It's wonderful that your grandson & his friends could join in to help celebrate your son becoming a Sailor:))0  I know how proud you must be.......I'm sure that will bring a big smile to your son :)))

It's been a hard couple of months for our SR's & soon it will be time to celebrate their accomplishment (9 more days):)))

Remember, we can still write to them, just don't put GL address on the front of the envelope!  You can give them the letters to read while there, or save them and have them ready to send to A school!  So excited, trying to get all my errands done so I don't have to go anywhere on Friday!

My 6 year old Grandson Steven and his K-garten class created a poster for his "Uncle" Sailor. I will be bringing it to show everyone!  It's so cute, I am posting the photo of them holding it up... I will be taking a photo of the actual poster too, but I wanted to get this posted fast! Just got it today!!
