One thing to remember about PIR, they can not have any of their electronics (phone, computer, etc) on base with them until they are told they can have them and they will let you know.  There is a place where you can store it near the base, Lock N Go I think is the name where you can rent a locker if they do not get to have them until after you leave, remember it will be different for everyone depending on where they are going and when they are going. Bring at least their phones with you to PIR so that when they are with you off base they can touch base with friends, I know they should only want to be with us but they like to talk to those that they have not talked to for awhile. I figured I had him in person and he loved being able to make the calls.  The weekend will go fast, do not plan to do anything big as many just want time with you, food, sleep and a long hot shower.

To add to diannes post below..when you give them their cells/laptops/ipods/etc...you are able to put it in a backpack, but they prefer the backpack to be BLACK...we had trouble finding an all black one at the last minute, so just a heads up on that if you go shopping.

JoeysGirlNancy:  If he is GradNGo to Great Lakes A School, he will move over there right after PIR.  He needs to have a phone card with him so he can call you when he is finished (can take from 2-5 hours).  Then you will pick him up at the A School base nearby.  He will have to be back each night...but you should have daytimes with him...other than when he has "watch."  When he returns to A School base at night, he can take his cell/laptop/etc with him....but he can have none of this until he is off of RTC.

dianne---Thats so cute/ funny!  Did he want anything special to eat? My son (and a lot of others ) wanted STEAK!!. We took him to Red Lobster where he ordered steak and seafood. He mentioned that they eat a lot of turkey in there. I guess the RDC's mentioned to them about going to mcdonalds, and that they might feel sick because they havent eaten fast food for so long. I believed it after we went to White Chastle. It was SuperBowl sunday and we got burgers to go back to the room and watch the game. We NEVER even SEEN a White Castle before (they dont have them in our area) and we didnt know what the heck we were ordering and ended up with 40 cheeseburgers!...LOL He did feel a little sick after eating those. It could have been the burgers..idk..:))
