dianne---sorry about that. There were 6 divisions in my sons PIR group and they were scheduled for three different start dates (2 each time).and they WERE during the week of PIR..BUT...it didnt work out that way because of the winter storm that hit and they ended up letting 4 groups go at once because of them having to 'shut down' due to the weather. Remember that? ...lol..This was during the week of our PIR in Feb. Thanks for letting me know...:)

janlee:  Usually for PIR groups with just 7 divisions, they get it done sometimes in just 2 nights...4 divisions one night, 3 the next.  And they may not start them until the week of PIR with a small group.  But...we never say "never" because there is lots of change in Navy events! :-)

Ladies, remember...there is a BattleStations discussion group up top with lots of info.  Please read it and look at the schedule there too. Hit "view all" to get to the group.

To add to ochaos I'm a Sailor call post...they actually usually can make more than one call during their alloted time.  They are told how much time they have and can divide that time up, if need be, to call others.  As far as the length of the call, it depends on how many divisions are calling and what is on their schedule that day.  My son's call was for an hour...but only 2 divisions went on his night (up to 4 divisions a night can go).  So for those who may be sharing phone time with other family members, etc, your call may not be terribly long, but hopefully you will get it!  Also, my son was able to call again on "pizza night" a couple of days before PIR.  So you never know!

For those that have not made travel plans yet, try flying into Milwaukee it can save you hundreds of dollars and is the same distance to the base.  If you go to YouTube you can see a video titled 'Battlestations 21 CNN."  The I'm a Sailor call is made after they complete Battlestations.  They usually only get one phone call and if they have a wife/gf - mom may not get the call.  If you do not get it do not be concerned, if they do not pass on the first time through they will get another chance.  There will be sailors from 2 divisions making the calls at the same time, so they will be taking turns and may not talk long.

There can be more than 2 divisions go through battlestations in one night. There are often 4 divisions going through the same night. The divisions are divided up into groups of approximately 8 recruits and each group must complete each scenario. And Janlee is correct, it is rare that someone not pass battlestations. But, when someone does fail they do not usually go through again the next night because they will need one night to sleep. They usually go through the second time 2 nights later or on Thursday night with a group from the next weeks PIR. Also, in that case they would in most cases sit in the bleachers during PIR because they would be too tired to participate in PIR ceremony even though they still officially graduate. i hope that makes sense.

You are very welcome Joey's Girl :-)
