Hi anna- you can take them off base. I think they are not allowed more than 50 miles from base. You have to have them back by 8 usually. They will know what time to be back and they will not want to be late because they will get in trouble.

Hi everyone! My BF of 7 years is in Div 144. He will be grad and go Saturday morning for Pensacola for IT school. When do they have to be back at RTC Friday? Is it after dinner? Also, can we go anywhere with them or do we have to stay on base? Thanks!

Wow, thanks guys. I am so glad you all love the ribbons I made for you to wear to PIR. I take a lot of pride in my work and I am a bit of a perfectionist lol. So I make sure every single one looks great. And like I said below just send me a friend request or if we are already friends send me a message.

As far as what to wear to PIR. Try to dress comfortable but nice. I think jeans are fine especially with a nice shirt or Navy Shirt. I will say the warmer it gets the more "personalities" you will see in the clothing lol. I was there in July and the way some of those girls/women dressed didn't leave much for the imagination. I thought I was going to have to pop my then 16yr old sons eyes back in his head lol.

What a beautiful day it is outside, yesterday almost 80 and today 76, my weeping cherry is in full bloom and it is so pretty :-) Enjoy your weekend everyone!!!

thought i would post this..its off of lalas page.. so you have this information..  i myself had three ribbons for each of my family... i will keep one in my sons scrap book.    heres lalas words:

Hi Friends, I make ribbons for anyone who would like them to wear to PIR. They are a great way to show how proud you are of your sailor and also a great way to recognize other members of N4M's. I don't make the ribbons for a profit so I keep the price low enough to cover materials and expenses. Most divisions order the Navy colored ribbons with gold or silver letters. They are not too frilly so they are suitable for men as well. The 800 divisions usually order black with gold letters. If you want ribbons make sure you order them at least a week before you leave for PIR so you get them on time. I can do overnight shipping but it is about $20.00 so it is best to order early. I take checks, money orders and PayPal. Send me a friend request and I will send you the info for ordering the ribbons. I also make Navy/Military scrapbook embellishments. If you are interested in the scrapbook stuff send me your private email address and I will send you the info. You can see sample pics of the ribbons and scrapbook embellishments here on my page.

Check out My Face Book page: Unique Memory Makers, "like" my page and you will be entered into a drawing March 23rd for a free bundle of Navy Scrapbook embellishments.

Please pardon this quick interruption. I just returned from my own sons PIR and am in “catch up” mode. YIKES!

Nearly every Div. /PIR Group has SR’s that get little to no mail. If you hear about "that" someone please share. Either by sending a message to me ‘PRIVATELY PLEASE’ (to protect our SR’s) their last name, first if you have it, and address. Or you may also join our group by checking us out on the link below.

I wanted to add to my post below...the people i saw in sweatshirts ..said NAVY on them..i wouldnt recommend wearing cammo or anything... LOL  It is a very nice ceremony and everyone was dressed in either NAVY or something nice. Keep in mind that you will probably be taking some pictures immediately after with your  your SR, so whatever you want to be wearing in those pics will be a good reference...

Comment by janlee on March 19, 2011 at 11:42am
navysisiter---you can wear whatever you want. You will see people in sweatshirts and you will see people wearing ties. If your son/daughter is up for an award...then it may be better to dress a little... I wore a good pair of jeans with a blazer, but i had my winter coat on the whole time i was in there. The hall is like a big airport hanger and was a little cold for me (but i was also there during a major winter storm). So whatever you feel comfortable in.
