Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I know its wishful thinking but I think it would help my son the most to hear us. I miss him so much and just rooting him on in my letters.

Comment by janlee on March 19, 2011 at 11:26am: navysisiter===If you want to wear them to PIR...you will need to purchase them before you go. But, you will be able to purchase them AFTER PIR.

After graduation...most everyone goes to the NEX to purchase Navy related items. You can also pay for photos/eat/wait for your SR..etc... I wouldnt recommend trying to go there before PIR. It is a little bit of a walk, and there is going to be too much going on. Also...im not even sure if they allow anyone past the PIR building until afterwards.

If you order early and something happens and your SR has a division change I will send you new numbers for the ribbons. Knocking on as much wood as I can find but I have only had this happen twice in all the ribbons I have made since July. Someone called me their good luck charm lol. And by the way, some of you who have already ordered and paid your ribbons are already on the way. You should have them by Tuesday or Wednesday. Sherri0210 you are included in this group :-) If anyone else would like to get ribbons just send me a friend request and I will send you the info.

Comment by MK on March 19, 2011 at 10:05am: Lala Ribbon Queen makes somes amazing ribbons to wear to PIR. Its not too early to place an order with her. I can tell you from experience that it made finding our son much easier. Many of the boys saw the ribbon with his name and pointed me in the right direction. Plus the ribbons are an awesome keepsake afterwards.
