kim---your daughter said her hair looked like crap...the recruits (boys and girls) are allowed to get make-overss after PIR. There are a lot of them, mostly girls, that want to spend the day at the mall/spa getting pampered with a new haircut, manicure, make-up, etc...maybe write her and ask her if she would like to do this while visiting over PIR. The mall they have is HUGE...its over 2 miles of shopping!!! Sometimes even the boys (men) want to get their hair re-cut.

Also...for the moms who have female recruits....you will be allowed to ship them their make-up, flat/curling irons, etc...before PIR. They should let you know when they are allowed to have these things shipped. If they are friends in the same divsion...they may want to 'share' the hairdryers, flat irons...to save you on shipping and them on space. Mention all of this in your next letter and they can find everything out in time.

taraq:  In every PIR group, there is always "talk" of the divisions not coming together, people talking, etc.  It is all of the many different personalities, backgrounds, experiences, etc. coming together in a very rigid and controlled environment (maybe the first kind of discipline for many of them).  Then they have to try and function as a unit!  But they get it done....those RDCs know what they are doing, believe me. You will recognize that when you see them marching at PIR...because it is amazing.  Week #4 of training seems to be a time of major turnaround for many of them.

Looks like there are many of the divisions having trouble with working together... My son is in ship3 Div 143 and he said the same thing and that they "can't seem to shut up when they're supposed to." haha. Got a call yesterday and missed it (thank God he called back-- I would have had to cry out loud in the middle of my office at work yesterday had my mom (who he actually got a hold of) not cut her call short and told him to call me back. Anyway that is what I was really waiting for--you know they can tell you they are doing good in a letter but i just really wanted to hear his voice to know that he really was doing fine.

proud4son85-- I'm so sorry you missed it. Like i said i missed his first call yesterday but got lucky that he called right back. I am not someone who has my phone with me all the time and for me to have kept up with my phone so well and then to miss the call i was keep up with the phone for would have been heartbreaking. I know how you must be feeling but hopefully they will get another one very soon.

Just wanted to update the PIR site, that DIV 148 Mom's/gf's are going with:

BLUE dipped dyed scarfs- from LL Bean.  We are opening our style/color to the sister/brother DIV 147, if they want to join us.

Comment by juliea243 on March 18, 2011 at 6:26am
so for div 146 we were talking about yellow scarves, is that ok with everyone? Something bright so they can find us :-)

yeah my SR stated that tomorrow (friday) is 3-1 week 3 day 1...he also said he passed all his physical stuff and even got called in and talked to about his time in running...because they were like "they're are little guys that didn't run it like you"...I'm proud of my SR!
Comment by proud4son85 on March 17, 2011 at 11:57pm
yes Odi Blue sounds good for matching.
Comment by Odi_Ship09_Div140 on March 17, 2011 at 11:49pm
Some of the divisions wanted to pick a color to pull us together at PIR. Do you guys want to plan on blue for us? So we match our guys/gals. On testing I think running was the least "fun"

Got my first letter today from Natalie!  WHOOHOO!  She sounded great....said she passed her first physical test with flying colors!  Such a great letter......ended the letter by saying her hair looked like crap and she never thought she would miss ice cream so much!
Comment by Pearl Harbor MA on March 17, 2011 at 11:26pm
He talked about a test he got a 4.2 on and then the one with all the running and situps and all. He didn't pass the situps part of that but says he can make that up
