Just got home form GL. WOW!!!!! The time just flew by!!!!! We had the rest of the day with my son til 8:00. We went to eat and then to gurnee mills mall for a short time, and then he just wanted to go back to the room and chill until it was time to go back. We went to the airport at 6:30 the next morning and stayed with him until his flight around 1:00. Oh how hard it was to say goodbye AGAIN!!! But....I've talked to him several times today already :)))) I think it will be easier now. We are already planning a trip soon. We are only 6 hrs away.

We are back home now from the best experience in our son's life. PIR was AMAZING and very moving. My son's division 140 was the second to march in and I did not see him when they marched in. It took me like halfway through the ceremony to find him but when I did it was sure joy and pride I had.

We hugged us took one picture with me and had to leave to check into A school. He called at 4:30pm to pick him up and I said we are ten lights away from me we will be right there LOL. We went to Dennys for dinner and he was happy we chose Dennys. He talked nonstop and he is a very quiet kid but the Navy made him a man and he was very confident.

He picked him up at 7am on Saturday and spent the whole day with him. We bought him a cell phone for him and lunch was Subway his favorite and Outback for dinnner. It was the best time ever. When we dropped him off I only had a few tears but it was more like pride and seeing him so confident and that he has something to lean on for himself.

Thank you everyone on this site for all the tears, laughs and support.

well...we are back home and I can't even put into words how amazing PIR was.

The changes in my son blew us all away! "yes sir" and "no ma'am"...not to mention, "I can't wait to go to work." We all choked on our food! LOL

he had watch after Liberty, then he went to the airport at 2am...slept all the way to Dallas/Ft. Worth.  He is in San Antonio now and loving it! The weather is warm...and he is only a day's drive away from me! Memorial Day...guess where I'm gonna be? <grin>

will post more later...I have some great pics and videos!

Thank you so much Veteran Moms! Your information and advice was SO helpful!

I have peace and calm for the first time in 8 wks. I'm gonna enjoy it!

PIR was absolutely amazing!  Seeing my son in his dress blues and giving him a big hug was the best!  We had deep dish Chicago pizza yesterday (his choice) at Lou Malnati's (amazing pizza) and went to Gurnee Mills Mall (also his choice).  We went to the airport at 2am for a 6am flight to see him off to Charleston, SC for Nuke school.  The pilot came over to my son and thanked him for his service - he was Air Force and has a son at the Naval Academy.  There were at least 10 sailors on this flight. What an amazing weekend!  My husband and I will recover tomorrow by going to a Cubs game and then we will go back to Maryland on a 6am flight on Monday.  Thank you to everyone for the information, advice, support, and words of encouragement over the last few weeks - N4M is the best!  Congratulations to all of our new sailors and their families, and best wishes as our sailors continue their journey in A school!
