AnnD, the Residence Inn was nice. They provide a decent breakfast, have free internet, a community dining area, occasional free dinners......
I noticed several sailors eating breakfast with their families. It has a very homey atmosphere. Our only complaint is that the beds were a bit soft.

Thanks for the added input! We'll avoid the Day's Inn, and look into La Quinta.

DOn't stay at the Days Inn. It is about a one mile from base but it was really bad. It was noisy at night and There breakfast was just cereal and fruit. It was cheap that is why we stayed. It was about 40 a night.

lj1422 (Josh's mom) and Jean: Thanks you for your replies! It's good to know that everyone should be able to get into the PIR. We're lucky because it's a holiday weekend, and we'll have Thurs. after graduation, Fri., Sat., and Sun. to spend together! I'm trying to figure out relaxing and fun things to do with him. Thanks for the tips!

AnnD, We had extra people also and they came in after all was sitted. But before the graduation started. There is a lot to see. The pier is fantastic from what I heard. My daughter only wanted Starbucks and sleep and a shower by herself. Congradulations on you Recruit. Get ready for Battlestations 21 it is really a rollercoaster for the Moms as well as the Recruit.

AnnD- We are always willing to help...I only had 3 of us at my sons PIR but we had a Mom who had 12 and they all got in. They will have to wait until all the assigned people are in and it depends on how big you PIR is we had 8 div. graduating. I did not stay at the Ramada but I did not hear any complaints of the ones that I knew that did. We let our Sailor pick what he wanted to do for liberty...he had to be back on base each night so we stayed close by and did not go to Chicago, they also usually have to do some sort of duty that weekend. My sons was Sunday morning and we did not get to pick him up until about 11 am. They all wanted to go to the mall there so that is one place my son just wanted to eat food out.....Congratulations to you and your Recruit.

Hello! My son's PIR is set for 5/27, and I have some questions for those who just attended a PIR. Would someone be willing to help?
1. Our immediate family will be using the 4 allotted tickets, but have other relatives coming, too. Is there a lot of extra seating available, or will they run the risk of not getting in to the graduation?
2. We're booked at the Ramada--anyone dissatisfied with the accommodations there?
3. Any suggestions for what to do with him for his liberty time?
I REALLY appreciate any feedback or hints that you can share!

Hi everyone. Haven't been on in a while. Glad to see everyone's doing so well. Brian is in Groton now for 7 weeks of sub training. Question for anyone...is there a site like this for Groton? Went up to see him Sat. 2 1/2 hrs away is sooo much better than 15 hrs! And to finally be in CONTACT with him is great. Of course I had to bring him his cell phone, I-pod, chargers, you-name-it. He bought himself a new laptop as soon as he got there. Why am I not surprised? lol Not sure yet if his A School will be there also, but it looks promising :)
