My son is still in Japan, waiting with baited breath to get on the USS George Washington, and to get on with his job, anytime now.

LindainIvorVA - nice to know, thanks! Chris has mentioned that a young lady from his class in San Antonio went over with him. It would be such a small world if she's the same person! Thanks again. ccw

Sorry I'm coming into this group so late. I'm a bit new to social networking! My son Chris graduated & went to "A" school in San Antonio to become an MAA. After his "A" school PIR in early June he was home until a couple days short of Father's Day. We got a call on Father's Day from Bahrain, he sounded whupped from the travel & the heat. He'll be there for the next couple years. He's enjoying his duty, both the people he works for & with. Anyone got someone in Bahrain & maybe an MAA?! Chris said a few of his "A" school buddies are there with him. Would love to hear from you! Take care, ccw

Hi to ALL, Just checking in and catching up with the postings. Its great to read about visits home and the adventures of our sailors ! My son was home for 15 wonderful days and last Friday flew off to San Diego, unfortunately his ship is 'underway' and he is hanging around the base and enjoying downtown SD. He text me last night BTW I am leaving for the ship tomorrow ! You have to love that ?

And so the next adventure begins in his first deployment ! The visit was bittersweet and in retrospect seem to go by so quickly. So enjoy your sailors when they get home.

Judy - hopefully he can get off the base and enjoy all the fun that's out there.. I'm sure he can & has... i hate it when people talk about the old days when "sailors weren't allowed on grass, etc" it's not like that at all ! it's a great community !! but sometimes the sailors can't get off base (especially when on ship) and whine.. so much to see & do... I'm sure you know that already...

Charlene... my daughter grad today too & I wasn't able to go... but a Navy Mom was soooo wonderful to take pics cuz her son grad in class too ! I feel so lucky..

GO NAVY !

My son graduates from A school today and I can't be there, which really upsets me!! He recently got a 6 year contract and so he will have even more training. He will go to NAS for training related to his 6Y contract, then start C school. He won't get to come home before Christmas (and that's still not for sure). Congratulations to all the sailors graduating today! GO NAVY!!
