Hey Moms!! Got a call from Andrew last night. He classed up and starts A school tomorrow. (after only 2 weeks on hold from ATT) Guess he's on his way to becoming an FC!! I'm glad for him he had a short hold. But, sad, we had hoped he would get to come home for a few days between for his Great Grandma's 82nd birthday party! Oh well, I'd rather him be in class and not bored on hold. Easier to keep him focused on the task at hand as it were. I guess I'll have to be patient (as I can be) and wait to see him in Oct when I fly up for his 20th birthday.

Charlene, he should get to come home in Dec. They usually stand down over the holidays and unless he has used all his time. He should get to come home. That's what we're counting on with AJ. I think he said he has like 12 days of leave already accumlated.

Hope everyone is having a great summer!! < hugs to all my PIR 4/9 family >

Just heard from him tonight... and it makes my world such a happy place!! We first thought he wouldn't get to come until NEXT August, but he may get to come home for Christmas (first trip home since Feb.) I'm praying for that to happen!! SO happy you got to talk to your son. There certainly isn't anything like hearing his voice, is there?!

Hang in there Judy In Nv! I missed my son's 19th bd back in May... first time ever & it was difficult. He got a change in his contract this week, which was a really good thing, but it means instead of coming home this Oct., it will be Aug. 2011! Sometimes it's really hard to be so proud of your sailor and be so far away. Remember that you aren't alone, we're all there with you! God bless you & give you the strength to not only endure, but to celebrate all that your sailor is doing for all of us!

@ Tina.. he was recommended an accelorated promotion so he was in boot camp then A school, and went in front of a board and was granted the promotion. E1 to E2 in boot camp. Finished top of his class in A school and got E3 status, now E4 ( that may take a little while to kick in, but he did get the promotion) however, he has to sign for an additional year. His homecoming was great Thur. 150 days / 21 weeks away from home. I get him for 2 weeks before the Navy gets him back!!!!

Our sailor got his promotion to E4 status. That can sometimes take up to 24 months. We are very proud of his hard work and determination. He graduated today from A school, and an Honor Grad at that!. He will be home in 2 days, can't wait to hear the stories all over in again face to face!

Hello all ! Hope everybody is well and nice to see we are all 'checking in' here !! My sailor son will be home in a few days and I just cant wait to see him. He finished school this month and has been hanging around at Great Lake waiting for his orders. He will be home on the 7th and leave for San Diego on the 16th. He will be on the USS Halsey and going out for 8 months shortly after he gets there.!!! I agree the yearbook is fantastic really nice !! Anyway ENJOY your visits and yes yes yes cherish the time with your sailors. By chance anyone is on the Halsey too please let me know.

Willo, You KNOW it! We sure do! So terrific and rotten too! Last night I was sitting there goofing on Facebook wishing Andrew would hope on Skype and he texted me. It was a picture of him in his dress whites with a message: Heading out on watch. Love ya Momma! As if he read my mind!!
