Jessica B - Sailor Mom,
Thanks for being the voice of experience and offering your comments and support! I am wondering how you are doing this time around? Even having gone through this before, it has to be a different experience for each child. I also know for the wives that it is a completely different experience. My husband is Army and he came home from a month absence the night before my son left. So many emotions...

Do you know what a section leader does? He does not sound different yet, but I suspect he will before the end. Also wondering if there are any other seabee moms in this group? I hope all receive letters soon and have a feeling even the non-letter writers may send a few lines home if that is their only means of communication! My son would not be considered a letter writer and I also told him not to worry about it because I knew he would be busy and tired, and he sent two pages!

No call today for me:( HaTina

MomMom when I spoke with the hotel they recommended we fly into milwaukee as the drive is less congested and takes the same amount of time approx: 45 mins. The flights from Florida are less expensive into Milwaukee also. TJs mom

JessicaB, we did take care of the forwarding of house calls to the cell phone, thank goodness! Right now, I am working 10-12 hours a day, taking care of the house, running errands, in and out, so life doesn't stop, but no way am I gonna miss that first collect call home! I figure we'll just have it on the phone for the next two months or so until he is out of basic and then he'll have his cell phone back with him. I carry my cell phone with me all the time. If I am at work, I have it either in my jeans pocket or tucked into the waistband of my skirt, very low or on vibrate. (uh, the volumn is low... not my skirt! I just re-read that and it cracked me up!) Girl, the way I see it, I am just as dedicated to my job as the next person and if after working 12 hours a day, if someone has a problem with me taking a five minute call from my son, then that's just what it is ... their problem, not mine :o) oh, and have gotten very good advice on that other issue and hope to have an update soon! keep us in your prayers, especially this next week!!!

Is it better to fly into O"hare or Midway airport? We're coming from CA and there are flights to both. I'm not familiar with the Chicago area, so don't know which one would be closer to RTC. thanks

When did your son arrive? I don't know how he knew, but my son said that he didn't think they could write until the second Sunday they were there. It is my understanding that they can only write on Sunday's, not sure if that is true or not. My son isn't much of a writer eaither and I am hating now that I told him if was to busy not to worry about it to concentrate on surviving.

Mikesmom, I agree, we are back home and I think the day went well, I am trying to be understanding of the fact that she has not had a mom figure in her life since she was about five, so this is something different for her as well. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. She is the other room working on a "craft project" I got for her at hobby lobby :o)

Jess, Call forwarding from the house phone to my cell? Nope. And it's not like I'm not doing stuff. Just at movies, I always put my phone on silent so I don't bother anyone with calls/texts. So, I'd hate to miss his call because I have my phone silenced.
