My son caught something pretty weird after BS21, some crazy skin rash and nausea, they thought it was from the chemicals in the firefighting water. He was SIQ for a few days and never got to enjoy the post-BS21 privileges. But he passed and did PIR with his division.

Other reasons for not calling after BS21 is if they are too tired, are on watch or have so much fun in Ricky Heaven (fast food, video games and candy!) that they forget to call.

If they don't pass they get one more try, with the next divisions to go through, then get to call at that time. About 40 from my son's group failed BS21 the first time, they all passed on their second try.

Skins Mom - I've read that if a recruit doesn't pass they usually give them a chance to go through BS again with another Division, and if they pass the second time around they will still graduate with their original Division. Think positive thoughts. Maybe he just had watch or something and wasn't able to call. Keep us posted.

First time I have commented--my son is on Ship 12 Div 185. He called my husband yesterday saying his division had passed battlestations but there was at least one division that had not passed and their graduation would be pushed back. We are so relieved. He sounded tired but could not give any details about battlestations. He said things had eased up and the petty officers were talking with the recruits (sailors now!)

Comment by Skins Mom (Ship 12 Div 186) on May 8, 2010 at 9:23am
Well he is in Ship12 Div 186, seems as though everyone else in that Division got their "Sailor Call". I checked with everyone that I think he would have called and nobody got that call from him. Again its the not knowing thing, I'm so frustrated!!!!!! If he didn't pass should I assume that he will try again with another division? Does he still graduate on time? And if he passes with a different division does he then graduate with them? So much for the excitement of "The Call".
Comment by Skins Mom (Ship 12 Div 186) on May 8, 2010 at 12:11am
Ok, so whats up, I didn't get a call. Should I just assume he did not pass??
