I am sorry I am late joining into this conversation...I just got home from work! I think the buttons and ribbons both sound like a great idea. I don't have a Michaels close to me but I think maybe Hobby Lobby might have the "make it yourself" buttons...I will call there to see or go by tomorrow.

I have one question though if anyone knows the answer...I have been looking at apartments in Great Lakes because that is where my hubby has A school. Some of the apartments have a "military clause" or say "military friendly" and I dont' know what this means. If an apartment does not have special guidelines does that mean that military people can not live there? Thanks to anyone that might be able to help and thank you all for being a great support. I just found this website a week ago and even though it is almost over I am so glad to find people that can relate to what I am feeling!! I look forward to meeting you all!

Colored ribbons are fine, too, though I like the idea of having the ship and div #s on there, too. The ribbons would be good for the weekend, though I would like the buttons for PIR.

I like that! Walking billboards so proud of our sailors!

Just called the local Michaels and they said most stores carry the buttons you can buy individually, either 2 1/4" or 3 1/2" in diameter, prices respectively $1.49 and $1.79. You can just pop off the back (which comes with a pin attached) and put in your photo or whatever you want.

That web site I posted for Walmart isn't much help. You can't click on anything to order and when you go the main Walmart web site under photo, they don't show photo buttons. I'm still checking, but the best bet might be the do it yourself pin kit, though I would hate for anyone to spend money on something they will not use again or much.

beatrizm, I was talking to someone about it today too (imagine that) and it was kind of the same thing, it kind of seems like already but then on the other hand this has been the longest 8 weeks of my life. I think pregnancy went quicker some days.
my3sons, I'll have to ask my son when he calls (hopefully in 2 days) if he mailed his pictures home, if so, I'll wait for those. Thanks for the tip.

grum'smom, that would be great if we could have their Navy pictures. i can't believe it's almost here, either. At first it seemed like such a long time away, and now when I tell everyone PIR is next week, they all exclaim, "Already?"

We did something similar to this years ago when the kids were little for an elementary school class moms' mete and greet. Some of the moms didn't know which kid belonged to which mom, so we put the mom's name and the kids photo on the name tag. It was fun going around and matching everybody up. I'm checking now to get all the details, I'll let you know what I find out.

That sounds great Beatrizm. Too bad we won't have their Navy pictures back. I will order mine tomorrow. I just can't hardly believe it's almost here. My son's division has had such a hard time I'm just so afraid something is going to go wrong. They have lost 18 or 19 guys out of 83. That's a lot to work through. Hopefully battlestations tomorrow and then smooth sailing.
