Ladies, after the they finish BS they go through the grad where they get their Navy hat.I got my call at 12:34pm. Their time 3:34pm. My son dental work right after so he fell asleep and someone woke him to tell him to call home. Just understand that some will sound tired and not very excited but it only cuz they were up all night. When you see them at IR they will be more excited to talk about it all. I took the day off to wait for the call cuz I was such a mess and nobody at work understood like we all do. Keep your phones on and tell all you will need to take the call.

Next Phone call will be after battlestations. Should be the 12th or the 13th, between 2 and 4 pm....or should I say 1400 and 1600 hours. After battle stations they have time to refine their marching skills and prepare for graduation. My son said that it is kind of a relax week. Just the finishing touches. Depending on where your grad is going will depend on whether they get time off after. My son is going to "A" school right accross the street from the Recruit Center so he will get a weekend pass and then on to classes for the next 5 weeks. After that a 2 week leave and then to his duty station. I am praying that he is stationed here, but he wants to go to Japan so bad that he can taste it, so he is working the angles to get himself there. Hope that helps to answer some questions Sherri. my3sons I believe that the answer to your question is not that they don't get the job that they signed up for, because once it is in writing they do not change it, but he may not get the station that he has requested. They sign those papers agreeing that, that is the job that they will be taking. My son wanted to be a corpsman but they did not have any openings until 2011 according to his recruiter. That would mean he would be waiting two years before he could get in, because he was not going to sign until he got what he wanted exactly and that came from a retired navy personel. You don't take a job if you really don't want it. They can change jobs once they get in, if they let their commanders know they are interested and work toward, which is what my son thinks that he is going to be able to do. So if I understand things correctly, your son will still be a MM, but he may not get the school, or the duty station that he requested. They kind of have to compete in school to be able to choose where they want to go. The top 3 in the class are allowed to pick exactly where they are going, then the rest of it is assigned according to need. Hope this helps.....glad to be part of this group..

Does anyone know what happens after battle stations? Do they still go through a rigorous schedule until graduation? Thought maybe they would extended their writing privileges and allow then to send out letters on days other than Sunday.

Gloria, my daughter said that they cannot call for Mother's Day. She also said that Battlestations is two 8 hour shifts (16 hours) and they start at 8 pm. I am assuming that they call will be on the 17th around 12 noon. But my phone has not left my side since the day she left. I even bought an extra charger for my office so I won't run my battery out for any reason. I am not sure how we are going to celebrate Mother's day yet. My hubby asked me what I wanted and I first said "A call from Jess" and then I said "I just don't want to cook on Sunday", so I guess he is taking me out to dinner.

I can't believe that in just at this time in two weeks we will be spending time with our Navy Sailors. I am so excited I think I am driving everyone at work crazy. It's all I talk about. Since I am the boss, they have to listen to me.

Yeah, I'm thinking that call may come in the morning of the 17th since battlestations runs all night long. Didn't I see where it starts at 8:00 p.m. and goes 12 hours? I guess I'll be sticking to my phone like glue. So much for aerobics class. I also wish he would call for Mother's Day but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Sunday I will celebrate my mom and my mother's day will come two weeks from today.

Thanks ladies! I'm so anxious. I cannot wait for that call. That's the one that means everything, ya know?

Traci....I also say it somewhere that Battlestations will start on the 16th and we should get the "I'm a Sailor" call sometime on the 17th.

I told my son in a letter this morning, two weeks from this time right now (7:30 am), I will be picking my seat so I can see your handsome face. I can't wait.

Traci, I thought I saw somewhere that is the Sunday before PIR, but I'm not positive.

Does anyone from Ship 4 Div 192 know exactly when battlestations is? I want to kind of have an idea of when to expect his call. Thanks, ladies!
