good morning all!!! i think anywhere we pick to stay will be a great choice, just seeing our SR graduating....it's going to be GREAT!!!

@Defiancemom....yes it's sub duty for my boy too & no I would not have picked that either, but he's super excited about it.  He will also be in the electronics field.  I know this is bad of me but I forgot the exact letters.

@Soh@ppy&proud....my son is in your son's divison.  I am excited to someone else in the same div!

I cannot wait for for details about what's going on, so I am patiently awaiting a letter....I can see it's been pretty cold & we are from FL.  so i hope with all the PT work they have to do, the weather is not bothering them all too much.  Have a great day all. I love our group & reading everyone's updates....keep 'em coming, it's keeping me going!!!

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is doing okay today:)  Still no real letter from my SR...but I'll keep waiting. Each day seems to be getting a little easier (I guess maybe it's because I have 2 other kids and a husband that need me to stay focused??) Maybe because each day that passes is one day closer to seeing my SR?? Either way, I am also glad to have the support that this group provides.

We booked a room at the Ramada. I have seen mixed reviews, but I'm hoping for the best. Have a happy day!

Lala Ribbon Queen makes somes amazing ribbons to wear to PIR.  Its not too early to place an order with her.  I can tell you from experience that it made finding our son much easier.  Many of the boys saw the ribbon with his name and pointed me in the right direction.  Plus the ribbons are an awesome keepsake afterwards.

Shari:  I agree with cyndaroo.  We stayed at Residence Inn Waukegan, great hotel, lots of room and full kitchens, separate bedrooms and 2 baths (in the larger units), free hot buffet breakfast, PET FRIENDLY for those wanting to bring beloved pet to be reunited with sailors, and we were on the 6:30 a.m. shuttle with no problem.  Picked it back up at the front gate with no issues either.  Yes, Waukegan is close to the base.  We were about 4.5 miles away.

my husband will be going to CT too, he's going in for culinary.  He signed up for sub duty as well.  do they get specialized sub training in CT?

@ jbird - Sorry for the delay in responding.  Our daughter was in her HS musical last evening so we had a "night off" so to speak.  It has been somewhat difficult to think about others with our son recently leaving.  It was a nice break!

As far as my son's job, I know he was entering their SECF program - Submarine Electronics/Computer Field.  It seemed to fit his interests and personality better than any other area.  I have my fingers crossed!

@ kim12div160 - Yes, our son chose submarines and will ge headed to Connecticut for A school.  Since you're asking, can I assume your son has made the same selection?  I'm not sure that would have been my choice, but he seemed confident in his choice and we supported his decision.
