I didn't mean to sound so dire. He didn't really say anything bad. :)

forevermom- whoever said deployment papers must have been mistaken. All they need is proof that they are enlisted. I took a copy of my daughter enlistment papers that showed the date that she left for bootcamp and that was all she needed. Make sure they reimburse any interested that was charged or paid  from the first day of bootcamp. This is awesome and will lower interest rate for any loan in their name that they had prior to enlisting. Unfortunately it doesn't work the same for anything they finance after bootcamp.

My husband wrote the same thing to me, he said he was crying because he missed me and our son so much.  It was so hard reading that, but I know it will get better for them. They keep them really busy over there.  Too busy to think.

Please try not to worry. The first 2-3 weeks are so hard for them and they are just so tired of paperwork. They may write and say they hate it there, they wish they had never joined, they want to come home etc. My daughter's first letter said she cried herself to sleep the first night. Well, when I read that I couldn't read any further. I cried for over an hour and I seriously thought about driving 16 hours to go up there and get her. It took me over 2 hours to get past that first line and read the rest of the letter. The next letter was much better and each one got better and better. By the time she was finished she told people she loved bootcamp. So just try to stay positive, keep sending encouraging letters. And remember by the time you get a letter like that several days have passed and he or she is probably doing much better already.

My son did write that his chief told them they (ship02/div925) were ahead of schedule.  Maybe that's why they got to write so soon?
