First REAL letter from my son today!!  Four pages, who would have thunk?!?! ;-) Indescribable feeling!!  So much information and details!  Love that kid soooo much!!  Very humorous letter, poked fun at the 'mean' drill instructor.  Overall some craziness, some making trouble for the group, great food, great experience, loves it!  Does not want to repeat week one in his life EVER again!! ;-)  Read like he's very happy and has some good buddies already in his division!!  They've lost 10 already...yikes!!

Kyles Mom - Great! Did your son ship on the 5th from Indy? My wife left that day and had to ride a bus all the way to RTC

Got my son's first letter yesterday!! I wrote him back today! WOW!  It was so good to hear from him. I hope I get another next week. He's hanging in there. I did find out some sad news from him. The school for Hospital Corpsman is in San Antonio! He'll leave the day after graduation on the 4th! :(   I made reservations at the Red Carpet Inn for 3 nites.  Now, I'll have to cancel the last nite. Was hoping to hang with him that Sat. before he started school there. I can't now. :(   Does anyone know what time they usually leave the next day when they have to go elsewhere for school?

All but two of those pics are. One of those is my brother's div. but I think he's probably lost some weight since I saw him last, so I can't recognize him, lol

ship 7 div 188 -- Just got my first letter from my son.  He was just finishing P week and looking forward to starting to train.  Said all he's been learning is how to fold clothes and sheets and Navy info LOL.  They got their camo uniforms with their names embroidered on them so he says they look more legitimate than when they were wearing baggy sweats all the time.  Swim test was to be on the 18th.  He was surprised at how little the recruits are allowed to talk with each other -- he gets to say a handful of phrases a day other than responding to the RTs.  Says they have salad bar and lots of entree choices -- kinda like good TV dinners.  It was so great to hear his humor in the words he chose to write and know that he's doing OK.  He said he wrote it on the 14th but I can't read the postmark to know when it got mailed.
