Let's help those who are coming to PIR by themselves find each other so that no one is traveling alone from the airport to Great Lakes.

Ah, oh - My son's group starts with 201 and he is 202. I guess that means we don't get the weekend with him? We thought he was going to school in Great Lakes so we would have the weekend with him. We even decided to stay longer just in case we had any extra days. My heart is sinking. I'm not going to do well with just a couple of hours of Matthew time (and he isn't either). He is looking forward to spending a few days with us! When will he know if he is a G&G? A couple of weeks in?

How do you know if your child is a grad and go?

Jessica, Great Lakes. Also, the info on the Grad N Go But Staying at Great Lakes was helpful. At least we'll be prepared if he has to process across before he can spend time with us after PIR.

Good Sunday afternoon! Ladies, we are below the 40 day mark now, but who's counting? EVERYBODY! I have a question that I'm sure somebody has the answer to. My son is counting on getting his cell phone, laptop and ipod back after PIR but I thought that I had read yesterday that they can't have them at A School either. I went back to the Family Guide on bootcamp.mil but I didn't see it there so I'm either overlooking it or I misunderstood something.

Good Saturday everybody,
Now that the initial shock and awe of MEPS and bootcamp has settled down I decided to go back to bootcamp.navy.mil and revisit some of the info that was so overwellming the first time I brought up the site. It was really worth the time. I watched the video clips with a whole different perspective now that we've had a couple of letters from David and have been blessed with the info that all of you have shared. My heart turned over watching the new sailors talk about their experiences. Note to self for what to pack for PIR...photo ID, camera, kleenex, kleenex, kleenex! Have a good weekend fellow recruit families!

Mail's run. No letter today. I'm almost anxious for Monday to get here just so I can get the next week over with. And the next and the next and so on! Just bought my 3 1/2 year old an adorable sailor dress to wear to the graduation.

My DiL received a letter today of just forms...this wasn't the initial one she received when my son first got the BC...this was a second one with info about her ID, etc. Any other wives get this, too?
