Kira'sMom:  They do make them write home, but as far as writing others letters, that is up to them and the time they may have to write.

I hope I get a letter soon. Do they have time to write more than 1 letter? There are so many people writing her letters that I don't know if she will have time to write back to everbody.

I received my 1st letter from my son today!!!! Yea!!!!!! He sounds so good! He said he gets to call in one week. He wrote the letter last wk end & it was post marked with Mondays date. So, it took almost a week to get to me here in Houston.
I hope all you other moms are starting to get your first "real" letters, too! :)

Lili and ladies:  I "bumped up" the discussion above that fireteamleaderswife posted referring to JessicaBSailor's info about WEEK TO WEEK activities in bootcamp.

That's great! Thank you so much... I'm not too worried about my husband's final PFA, he was good on his sit ups and push ups before he left for RTC and his run was just 1 minute behind what he needed... all that information was very helpful, I appreciate it.
Comment by diannep on July 15, 2011 at 3:25pm

Well, I have the answer to that one, SailorsCupcake.

First of all, if they don't pass BattleStations (and most do)...they would go again with the next group, even if it was the next PIR group going the night before PIR. In that case, they would be at their own PIR, but in the balcony. too tired to march.  But like I said, very few fail...and they all pass the 2nd time around.  So families continue on to GL to see PIR!

The problem is when they haven't passed their final PFA....and therefore can't do BattleStations yet.  We just had a lady in the 7/15 group who called me about this.  Happens pretty much in every group.  Her son had not passed his run.  She called me to find out what will happen.  I told her to continue with her travel plans because when he tries again (she knew it would be yesterday), if he passes, he will go that night with the next PIR group's BattleStations and be at PIR today.  And he was!

So, ladies...pray hard for your SRs to pass their final PFAs.  But if they don't, they get more chances before PIR.  Not to worry...we will cross that bridge if and when anyone comes to it!

Hahaha... that sounds like a nightmare! Definitely, don't take any chances! I wouldn't!!! You got the "I'm a sailor" call THAT day? I thought it would at least be a couple weeks in advance! What do people do if they are at the airport to leave and their SR calls and says they didn't pass Battle Stations!?

I'm right there with you - although I think one of the mom's that got a letter yesterday - her profile showed NY and that's not very far from IL so I'm just hoping it's a little delayed due to all of the bad weather back there.

I will NOT miss my son's PIR for the life of me that is certain!!!  I am counting the days and hope that we receive phone calls soon - I just need some reassurance that he is doing good (even though I know he is)!!!

Aw, that's too bad that you won't be able to make it to the M&G! I think it's going to be a lot of fun to meet all the families that we've been getting to know and supporting each other. But the important thing is to make it to PIR for our SR's :)

Got the mail today, no letter from him though... but hopefully you do!!! I'm looking forward to getting anything from him! lol
