Marilyn, Thank you so much for the offer, but when they are deploying they have to stay with the group and if he was accurate he should already be on the next plane to Kwait. Thanks for all the good wishes and support. He will not be stateside until spring so we will be talking with him thru e-mail until then. But if anyone else has their son/daughter getting ready to deploy look up on the internet about pre-deployment there is so much info you need and they forget to tell you, the internet was so helpful. Glad to hear everyone is doing well.

Thanks Lori....thanks a lot! :)

Yep - we're having Trev up for Thanksgiving. I'm surprised we didn't scare him off!! He actually seems to LIKE US! We can be pretty silly. :)

Is Paul coming home? You need to fill me in.

yeah i'm always up for adventure with you Marilyn!
So you are adopting Trev for thanksgiving?
Japan IS the other side of the world! It is just not as easy as "popping on over there" is it? Ok I should be thinking of the positives for you...hmm- cheap electronics?

Katie - that's great! And I think it's terrific that he's heading down here to VA! Now, you just need to make a trip down and we can get together. You can ask Lori - I am ALWAYS up for an adventure!! Maybe I can even convince Lori to join me again!! heehee!!

I am really glad you've had some time with him. My heart broke as we said good-bye to Jordan. With him being in South Carolina or North Carolina - we make some weekend trips down to see him (twice each place) and even up there in GL we could drive (or fly) easily to see him. But in Japan - it's a WHOLE DIFFERENT THING! I sometimes feel like he's on the moon or something for as far away (and expensive to get there) as it is. Silly - I know! And two years is going to feel like FOREVER! but I know this is a really cool place for him - and I am trying to stay focused on all the positives there are! And I am crossing my fingers that at some point in the next couple years we'll be able to take a trip over there. Who knows!!?

Let us know if You are coming down any time soon! Also - I don't know what chances he'll have to have Thanksgiving time - but one of the other "newer" sailors from the Norfolk/VA Beach area (which is close to Little Creek, I believe) is driving up to spend it with us. He is far from home and can't be with his family - so we are "adopting him" for that time. I'm sure Jake would be welcome to come up with him. It would give him someone else to know down there too.

ALL THE VERY BEST! AND BE BLESSED!!!

So good to hear where the guys are at. Can you believe it's been 7 months since they entered BC- and now they are all doing different things!
Good to hear from you Katie. I'm sure you are happy to have him home now but then will you not see him for Christmas?
I went to GL to see Paul about 4 weeks ago. That was the first time I'd seen him since PIR. It was Columbus Day weekend so he had that monday off. But since he had duty on Sunday it didn't seem like I got to see much of him.

Jackie- his 21st birthday and he's spending it in an airport? I know what your mommas heart is feeling. But at least he is excited for the next step in his Navy career. So glad he got to call you. And that's pretty neat his commander he likes is going with them. What adventures these guys are going to have!

Marilyn- still no word? This is harder than BC waiting isn't?

Well maybe since there's been a little activity on our site they won't shut it down just yet!

Hello Ladies, Just noticed some activity here and thought I'd post with what is going on with Jake. His original orders for Little Creek, VA with the Patrol Craft unit were cancelled so he was a duty driver for his ship up untill last Friday. He received new orders once again for Little Creek to serve on the Carter Hall. I picked him up at Great Lakes last Friday and he's home until the 14th of November when he flys out of Green Bay, WI for Little Creek. I'm already struggling with his leaving again after seeing him so much this summer seeing he was so close to home. I made the trip to Great Lakes so many times I could have done it with my eyes closed........ :)

It's so good to hear that all is well with your sailors and to hear of the exciting adventures they are having. Marilyn I can just imagine how hard it is right now not hearing from Jordon. I know the time while they were in BC was pure torture for us Moms but I guess that's all part of being Navy Moms.

Washburn....how exciting for John. Jake had wanted to be a Seebee but was told there wasn't any available openings when he signed up. He's doing the next best thing for him and will be an Enginemen on an Anvibious (sp?) Assult Ship.

Lori, have you been able to see Paul since Graduation?

Anyhow glad to hear things are well with all of you.

Hugs and prayers for all,

Katie

WOW! John has big things ahead of him. How long is he in DC? Will he be here long enough that we could take him out to dinner or something for his birthday?

I know he must be feeling such a mix of emotions. What a HUGE adventure for a 21 year old to have!!!

Jordan is in Okinawa and as far as I know he's doing well. We haven't heard anything for a WEEK! His computer broke right before he left and his cell phone didn't have a international chip in it - so we have no way to contact him. We have to wait for him to get settled in there - and then to get "plugged in"!! HATE THE WAITING! It's sort of like I felt with Boot Camp! He was home for a couple weeks before he left - so that was really nice. We spent as much time with him as we could! He seemed to be excited about his job - which is good. I know he's going to have MANY GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES!! :)

Tell me more about the Seebee's! I understand they build things?

Be blessed!
Marilyn

Lori- John did call last night we talked for over an hour. He sounded very confident and ready to go. He should be getting to DC in about 2 hours and then on to Kwait. The hard part for all of us yesterday was it was Johns 21st B-day and he was on lock down instead of celebrating his birthday. Have you gotten to see Paul?
Comment by washburn11 on November 3, 2010 at 9:28pm
Lori he is a builder, they are building a military base there and it has to be done by the end of next summer. It takes about 5 days to actually get to afghanistan, but they get put in holding in Kwait (spelling) sometimes and the commander told them they may be in Kwait up to 2 mths, he said it is a hurry up and wait game. Afghanistan is a 10 - 11 hrs ahead of us. Yes it does not seem to many are together, his commander is going with them from A school and John likes him so that is good. I gotta go put my daughter to bed. I will be on later. Talk to you soon.

Jackie- what will he be doing? Why does it take so long to get there? I'm sure he won't forget to call- just might be hard for him to do. The time difference will make a difference too I'm sure. Our boys are flung to so many different areas now.
