Rebecca- well hello stranger! Good to see a post from you. Glad J is doing good.
Has nuke school been hard for him? Did he know the guys who committed suicide? That was horrible news.
Have you had an opportunity to see him? Or has he come home for a visit?
His school is long.. so is Paul's. About 15 months I think. I knew the nuke program was a long one.
You having hot and nasty weather?

Hello ladies! Haven't been on here forever!!!! I hate to say it but those RDCs in my son's division were horrible and read EVERYTHING posted on here and took it out on our kids, BUT I feel comfortable now in posting again!!!

J is still in A School in Charleston and is doing fine. Very intense studies, but tentative date of grad is Sept 18??? Then he'll stay for another six months of power school...then another six months of prototype....then off to a nuclear sub! Hope everybody else is doing fine, and it sounds like it from all these positive posts! :)

Thanks katie for adding that link. The ladies that are doing this are so sweet. I asked if they could add sprinkles on the cup cakes as Paul loves them and they did. He said they are quite good but then he hasn't had any real baked goods in a long time!

So each training is different Katie depending what they are doing at GL? I
asked paul what a 'snipe' was and he said that's what the engineers are called. Oh that explains it! He said he has maybe 2 more weeks [ could be less] of ATT and then he will be on hold for A to begin. He said "I'm not even half way yet" I told him don't think of it like that... he's anxious to come home.

Marilyn, he thinks he'll be here from Thur till Tues [ after Labor day] and we don't get back till that Sat. from the beach. First time in 22 years he won't be with us :(
No plans yet. I should make them soon though. Probably a family gathering would be good.

Lori, Jake is EN (aka snipe-enginmen) and from what I understand (which isn't always much) Becc is the first phase of training they all do and then the strand training is job specific. Strand is 2 weeks so if all goes as planned he will be done for sure by the end of August but may be in GL on hold till he gets orders. Which of course is okay with me but not with Jake. He's ready to get out on a fleet. I heard about the Cupcakes Ahoy and planning on getting some to Jake on his birthday in a few weeks. Some moms thought their boys would be embarrassed but I think Jake will love them. I hope you enjoy your time with Paul. Any big plans for when he's home?

Betsy, the web site to order cupcakes is www.cupcakes.ahoy.webs.com. They look great and price is right.

Marilyn, of course as always Jordan will be in our prayers. Sounds like he is moving right along and will do fine. I think they worry more than they should when it comes to getting through their training. It's great that you get to see him often especially seeing he will be in Japan. Jake hasn't even gotten orders yet. Considered hooking up with the Riverrines just to get orders but his color blindness will prevent him from doing that. He did do the physical "tryouts" and did really well though.

Lori: Could you please forward email and/or phone # of the women you ordered the cupcakes from in GL? Luke's birthday is the 16th and it is killing me not to be able to make a cake for him....first time in 20 years! :( This would certainly be the next best thing! Thank you....Betsy

what a sweet and precious thing to do, Lori! I have no doubt that was the best wake-up he's had in a LONG TIME!! :o)

What dates will he be there? And where are you going for Labor Day???
Comment by lori on August 4, 2010 at 12:33pm
marilyn- praying for Jordan. I know you had a wonderful time with him.

Just got a call from Paul... I ordered cupcakes from 2 wives who have started a little business at GL as their hubby's are at the same school as Paul.. anyway he got woken up to a dozen cupcakes this morning! He was so pleased... I told him to share and he said he already had! That has put a smile on my face today just knowing I could bless him with a homemade goodie even though it wasn't from my hands!

Paul will be coming home 2 days before WE get back :( but I will get to see him from Sat till Tues. I told him go visit all his friends as I want ALL of his time after!

YEAH for both of your and your guys! (I think "guys" is an acceptable term!)

Jordan is now in North Carolina and he's waiting for CREST to start on the 10th. (This is the combat training) He could use some prayers for it. He is stressing some of the physical requirements - specifically the pull-ups. He feels he's pretty good with the rest, but the pull-ups are really difficult for him and he's worried what's going to happen if he CAN'T do enough of them! And the "work" hasn't even started yet. Not sure how much "class work" there will be or anything else yet. He is expected to finish up with that early Oct. and have a few days at home before "shipping out" to Japan. We had a chance to see him last weekend (drove down) and we hope to go again in a couple weeks. Gotta make the most of seeing him before he's FAR, FAR AWAY!!

Katie - I too am curious about his BECC. Love to know more!
Lori- I KNOW you are counting days until you get to see your son! And I know you'll fill me in as soon as you have a chance to see him!!

Katie, great to see your post! Haven't heard of Jake's training, can't remember is he ET or FC? But finishing ANYTHING is good! That's wonderful he's coming home even though the time will be short.
Paul is hoping to come home Labor Day weekend.. he's finishing up ATT this month. Then hold until A starts. We haven't seen him since PIR... which wasn't THAT long ago [ May 27th] but it will have been 4 months since I've seen him. Since he's at school at nights we don't get to talk that much.
Have fun this weekend... and let me know what "Becc' is.. I'm curious!
