Lucky13 - Jake is going to be an enginmen (mechanic). It is really random who starts and who doesn't - not sure how they figure that out. Another boy that was in his division that he graduated with is also an enginmen in training and rooms right across the hall from Jake which is great for both of them seeing they became friends in BC. He's working extremely hard to get to phase II but I don't think it's as easy as he thought it would be. He wants to come home over the 4th of July weekend. If he doesn't I think we are going to go to GL and spend at least part of the weekend there. What is your husband doing? What division was he in in BC?

Jake is in Great Lakes till August then he said he will come home for 2 weeks and then head off to his first duty station.

so his school is at....?

there are sticky notes all over my house! I have to be careful not to forget where I've placed that 'important' sticky though!

Don't feel bad Lori - I have to write everything down I think so I remember everything Jake and I talk about. My husband works nights so when I talk to Jake he's at work and will ask stuff too and I can't remember it all.

tina- that's great. Is he at GL-I'm sure I've asked you before just can't remember? P is at GL and he's still on 'hold'- finished with INDOC and waiting for ATT to begin- then after that- A school. I'm needing a notebook to try and remember all the new terms since BC - just when you think you've learned something new [ yeah brain!] then more stuff to learn. Oh to be young again!!!

Lori, He's training to be an enginemen (mechanic) and if I understand him correctly there are a bunch of different fields trained in the same classes for the first part then they get more specialized. I can't remember exactly how many different fields fall under this group. When I talked to him Thursday we exchanged so much information I can't seem to remember it all. He said his first day Thursday was more of a day of rules and regulations. Then he said Friday he had PT and classes after that. He was supposed to call over the weekend but didn't so I'll ask more when I talk to him I hope tonight.

lucky 13- that's great he got to start his ATT so soon. My son is still on hold and waiting... I wonder how they decide who starts and who waits?
Comment by lori on June 8, 2010 at 10:59pm
That is a HUGE group that PIR'd with your son. I know there was much less 2 weeks ago when P grad. He told me that they are on 'hold' not because they are waiting for guys to start a class[ I thought] but because there are too many and they need to wait for class rooms and instructors. So I don't think he is in his perm. ship yet.
