Chris is still in Whidbey, and probably wont deploy ever, He's disapointed, I'm thinking he will probably get out, unless he can get different orders, but anything can happen. He would have great orders if he had a family and liked cold weather year around.

It is great you were able to go to SanDiego, lots to do and see. I sure hope we get a few other moms to up date. Do you keep in touch with anyone else?

Terrie- what a surprise! I didn't even know our site was still up! We just got back from San Diego visiting Paul. His ship returned from a 7 month deployment on Wednesday. What an awesome sight that was watching this huge aircraft carrier pulling into port! So 2 years ago we were at PIR and this year at his Home Coming!

SD is beautiful [ where he is stationed at least for the next 2 years] - the weather was cloudy and cool while we were there but it was great just being there. Paul gave us a tour of the ship [ which is massive and has so many vertical stairs that there is no way I would ever want to go on a Tiger Cruise!]. I got to see his "shop" and where he works. We were there until Saturday and saying good bye was hard. Not sure when I'll see him again.

Anyway- it will be great to hear how everyone is doing and where your sailors are at this point in their life. Terrie how is your's?

Time to Check in! Our two year anniversary! Hope everyone gets to talk to your sailors this weekend!

How is everyone, and where are your sailors?

Hello!!  I can not believe that it has been a year now since we were all up at GL and celebrating the graduation of all our sailors.   That was one wonderful long weekend....and I remember it like yesterday.

I have been absent from the computer more or less all the way around but am glad to see you are still here.  Caught up on alot of the postings and glad to hear of those well on their way but sad to hear about Austin...glad to see that everything worked out though in the end and he is back home.  And Jordon, my gosh, Marilyn, I can not believe what he has gone through.  He needs to have it seen here stateside before he leaves again.  Talk about a rough road.  I can only hope and pay that this will pass for him and better days lie ahead.

My Chris is doing well but very frustrated.  He left for FLW after graduation and graduated from Grade A school.  He was able to return to Florida in October of last year; however, is in the reserve Seabee program.  His recruiter at the time told him that he could change after graduation of  bootcamp, then Grade A school) but then has found out that he has to wait 2 years before transferring to active.  That was not what he had thought he signed up for.  But he is taking it in good stride, doing his reserved duty while going to college and working.  He goes to training sometime this summer and then again later on.  I believe they deploy next year sometime.  He sometimes feels that he is in limbo not being able to move forward...but I know things will work out for a reason.  And I am very grateful that he is still home - although, I know that he does not necessarily see it that way.  :)  He wants to be out there serving his country full time.

I am so sorry that I have been so absent.  Just weeks before Chris graduated, my mother passed away and it has been a tough year emotionally. The loss of my mom has left a tremendous void in my life and I have struggle with it and I just have not been myself.

I hope you are all well and I have each one of our sailors in my thoughts and prayers as they travel (or sail) their individual paths.

Happy Memorial Day to you and your sailors, my friends.

Jill

I'm back! I got stuck at Dulles for 2 hours yesterday waiting for Peter to pick me up. There was a bad accident on the beltway that had him stopped for 2 hours and so all i could do was wait. I thought I wasn't as worse off as those who maybe were trying to get to the airport for flights- they would have missed them for sure. I kept going till 9pm last night which had me up for almost 23 hours straight. It will take some time to get back to this time zone. I woke up very early [2am] as that would have been my normal time [7am] to get up. I think the older the body is the harder it is to adjust!

Marilyn- how is Jordan adjusting to the time difference? I do hope he goes and gets seen. That just doesn't sound good at all. I know he's sick of all the doctor stuff but he really doesn't need to get worse does he?

Jackie- so sorry for all that you had to go through and i do pray that you will heal quickly. I'm glad it wasn't worse than what it could have been.

I hope to hear from Paul in the next couple of days. Talked briefly to my daughter in NC last night but I'm not sure if I was making any sense! My other daughter and the kids will come by today- i have missed those kids so much!

Marilyn- any adventure with you is memorable! But we need one that's for sure!

Jackie- We'll be praying for a quick recovery for you!

We lived in Oxnard, (PT MUGU) and stayed a couple of miles from Pt Hueneme. I love it there too, then we spent 2 years in San Diego. It was Nice at first, but a little busy form me.  We had hoped Chris would get that area so he could see where he spent the first 5 years of his life. But the Navy had other plans...

Marilyn-I'd be very stressed with those wounds, I'll be praying for him too!

Lori - Welcome home!  I know you'll be wiped out when you get int today - but know you're in our thoughts and prayers.I KNOW Paul has to LOVE San Diego!  We should fly out there together - you see your son and I'll see mine! (and the DiL and grandbabies!)  it would be an even BIGGER adventure than all the ones we've had before!! heeheee! YIKES!

Jackie- I hope you heal quickly.  Maybe even faster than the 9 months you're expecting it to take. :)  However, it seems you have a great attitude about it - and that you're glad it wasn't worse.  That matters!

Port Hueneme is lovely!  We have a lot of people from my company that work there.  It's great! :)  I'm sure he'll enjoy his time there.

AND  - Terrie - WHOOHOOOO Widbey Island!  I used to go there ALL THE TIME when I lived there.  There are so many things to do in that area - if he enjoys the outdoors.  He can go whale watching not far away even.  Have you been out to visit him there yet?  It's beautiful.  And very peaceful.

Jordan made it back safely - but his feet are worse than I had expected.  He still has open sores and his legs AND feet are covered in infected areas.  He had a low grade fever over the weekend - so we're pushing him to go to Quantico today to be seen.  I would like fore him to even maybe go up to Bethesda to the medical center for a really good exam - but he just wants to have a chance to get a break from all the medical appts and enjoy his leave.  I don't blame him - but I want to make sure he's HEALTHY!! arrrgh!

It was lovely hearing from each of you!  STAY STRONG - MOMS!!
