Tips from the “Locals” on what to do while you are here… 

Chicago
The Sears tower, or now the "Willis Tower", charges money to go to the top of what essentially is a tourist trap. It is just Shops and a mini museum up top but admittedly a great view of the city. But if your heart is set on going out on the glass shelves that extend over the city, (which is very cool), you will get just as nice experience on the 95th or the 96th floor of the John Hancock Building. (For Free) Shops are in the very lower lever of the John Hancock building.
The 95th floor has a fantastic restaurant with great views of the city and Lake.
The 96th floor is more casual so if you are wearing sneakers or shorts go to the 96th where they have great sandwiches/snacks/ awesome views..
Ladies, make sure you check out the bathroom on the 96th floor... pretty fun! Sorry guys don’t get the same view.. I once guarded the door so my husband could see what he was missing 

My Favorite Pizza Place- Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Located on North Clark St. Address???
Fantastic personal size pizza! Ordered by the pound! ½ or 1 pound / your choice of white or wheat crust / meat sauce or veggie sauce / mushroom or no mushrooms…. The Pizza is made in a bowl with the cheese on the bottom. then the sauce, then crust on top.. THEN it is FLIPPED over at your table! Whalaaa! This restaurant accepts no reservations. First come first serve. Usually about 30 min wait unless you get there at a dinner rush… CASH only! WORTH the experience and delish food! Don’t forget to order Mediterranean bread for your appetizer… yummmm

The Lake County Fair is going on this weekend too for those who are in town. I can’t quite see sailors in their whites there, but maybe on Sat-Sun????
I will find the web site, it is in Grayslake just 10 min or so from the base...Rodeo/demolition derby/ corn dogs/ funnel cakes the usual county fair stuff....
Even though we are close to Chicago, we are pretty rural out here, even the town of Gurnee where Gurnee Mills and Great America are located was mostly farm fields 10 years ago....

Blarney Island – Open daily all weekend but on Thursday Night The famous Blarney Island on Grass lake host their boat races. Blarney Island is just that. You catch a ride from the Port O Blarney on the hour every hour to the island. Definitely something you have NEVER seen before and famous for the area. Bands, music, fun.. but not somewhere to take you sailor... So I only suggest this for people who are looking for something to do before graduation or after the Sailors leave for A-school and you are still in the area.

As more comes to mind I will post….

We just recently joined Facebook together, and, by what I can gather she's had some dental issues recently. But, seems to be handling herself okay. I think that she's just really busy with work. She's received her "Sailor" call from her son and is very excited about attending Graduation and meeting everyone this Thursday at the meet and greet.
