Sue, All of us need to keep good thoughts & prayers for all the recruits in Div. 259/260, that they "keep strong and healthy". My son (like your son & I'm sure others) don't want to seek medical attention for that reason of being detained, they are so close to the "finish line" and everyone wants to "be done"..I know they can do it, they are all very determined. I'll be so relieved once BS21 is over. Good news, they are enjoying the excitement of winning Capt's Cup. It's a big boost to their morale. Thanks for the posting for weather updates, we've been trying to keep up to date with weather forecast too. Momce

Jessica thank you so much. I remain hopeful. He is going to pre-buds. I don't know if that makes a difference. Also is anyone else staying at the Residence Inn

Momce, I knew someone would be on after i posted! I had to sign off and make a few phonecall updates(grandmoms & aunts) I forgot to mention my sons foot is swollen but refuses to get it examined. i told him to keep it elevated and wear an extra sock for support. He says many are nursing injuries and all are determined to push on, at this point no one wants to risk being detained. He says he's been sick with a cold about 3 times and tries to wash his hands every chance he can. (Note to self: pack hand sanitizer). He says they were so excited after Captains Cup and they carry their trophies around with them everywhere! He's constantly being acknowledged for how shiny his boots are. My daughter told him how she saluted an army soldier today and he quickly informed her, that they must have on a hat to salute. So much to learn! It sounds like they really have pulled together as they are helping each other study. I'm so excited, I log on several times a day hoping to hear more news. lol

Yahoo Sue, I, too, just hung up with my son, ...as I was logging on I was hoping you would be on-line too !!! (Hope we get to meet each other)...Yeah, Captain's Cup Winners, how exciting for them !!! My son said their div. got two trophies !!! He also said quite a few are fighting sore throats, fever, coughs...he's doing ok, but, not feeling 100%, but, he said, "too close now, it's mind over matter, I will not get sick"...He also mentioned about the guy who just joined division after being sick, being near his "rack" too...said this guy is still coughing and several keep telling him to "cover his mouth when he coughs"..I hope your son remains in good health, I'll keep good thoughts & prayers for them both (and all div. 259)..I'm too excited about all of this, can't wait 'til BS is over and we have "official" sailors. Keep Up the Good Work Ship 12/Div 259 !! and, Every Success for Every Recruit for BS 7/28. Keep Strong in Body & Mind. Momce

Update: I literally just hung up the phone with my son and couldn't wait to tell all. They won Captains Cup and won for the best chant. He passed gas mask and says it was a let down because he thought it would be much worse. They still have to take firefighter test and many are nervous but all have been studying in groups. BS-21 starts 6pm Wed and last until 6am Thurs. Also to the mom who's son just joined his division after being sick for 2 wks. He's sleep right next to my son.Oh yeah he claims to be the "Shoeshine King". Go Ship 12 Div 259 -Hooray!!!!!
