I think that is hysterical Jaz. My son kept telling me to "keep it together". Hugging him and crying was I think the only thing I did the whole weekend.

I have to laugh because the only real complaint my son had was that I choked him when I hugged him.

I didn't notice security issues at the Ramada at all either. I just thought they could have improved the smells and defects. Otherwise, it was fine. I wasn't there for a honeymoon I was there for a Navy graduation. That was a great distraction from me complaining. LOL

We left Waukegan Sunday night, I have to say that I loved every minute of the PIR. I literally was bouncing out of my seat. I can't wait to get the video so I can watch it again. Quickly moving through the croud to find my son and finally having that moment that I had been waiting for of running to him with my arms wide open and wrapping them around him will be one of the best moments of my life. He looked so amazing, all the sailors did. It was a wonderful day, Unfortunately We had to say goodby to Ryan at 7pm that evening. He left for A school at 3am on a chartered flight. We have been talking everyday so I am much happier and he is out of bootcamp. As far as our stay at the residence Inn, it was wonderful. I would highly recomment it. Good Luck to all of you...

The graduation was beautiful. The guys and gals looked fantastic and the picture I have of him, myself and his girlfriend can't be beat. I never saw such huge grins on everyone. It was so fun to meet the other parents at the Meet and Greet. We stayed at the Ramada Inn and had no complaints, other than the room keys never working. We didn't do downtown Chicago like we had originally planned because my son had talked to others who went on Saturday and heard about all the walking. I guess he decided instead to stay back and do little things so he could talk more with the family. As time drew near on Sunday evening, we ate our Chicago-style pizza and found this little park area in Lake Bluff close to the base. A band was playing and the community was gathered. We went to the tennis court and playground area where we had the place to ourselves pretty much, had the benefit of the band and just hung and played around. It was very special. It was hard saying goodbye again, but today he will be moving over to A School. I am waiting for him to call and tell me to ship his phone and computer. lol It was all a very special, beautiful weekend. Congratulations to all new grads!

My daughter and I got back to Massachusetts very early this morning. We had so much fun with my son. Holding him was the best thing in the world. I can't believe he is a US Sailor. We had a bit of an experience. He lost is i.d. Friday. After having to wait for him for about 4 hours, we get him back to our motel and he realizes that he can't find his i.d.He had to call in and find out what to do. He can't get on base with out the i.d. We thought he had lost his liberty. Thank the good lord he did not get into too much trouble. He'll be doing some extra duty, but not too bad. We got him for the entire weekend. Its amazing just how different he looked. So mature and grown up. This girl that stayed at our motel wrote a very touching poem on her truck for her brother that graduated Friday. It was very touching and moving or maybe I was just feeling "girlie", you all be the judge. "i protected him when he was little...now he protects you!" It made me cry and realize that our boys and girls are all grown up and they are protecting all of us. Thank you to all of your son's and daughter's, who along with my boys (my other son is Army) have made the choice to protect this country and all it stands for. This has been the experience of a life time. Thank you to all the N4M community, you have all made it funny, touching and informative.

My family and I stayed at the Days Inn-Libertyville. This was one of the hotels listed on the brochure I received in my son's first letter. I chose it due to the close proximity to the graduation site (6 miles). The rates were less than some of the other hotels in the area, but you get what you pay for. The hotel reaped of a musty, stale odor and the entire establishment is in dire need of some serious renovations. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay there! We were there for 2 nights and although I hated the time with my sailor was over, I was glad to be out of there. We tried to find a room at other hotels in the area, but they were all booked, I told my husband that brochure needs to be updated b/c that info provided for the Days Inn-Libertyville was misleading. Other than the hotel, PIR was great!

Momce,
Oh! Yes, I will wish (and pray) for San Diego for you and your son, then. I hear San Diego is beautiful too. Your words were beautiful, thank you. Captain's cup was great! We got our "I'm a sailor" call while sitting on an overpass in traffic near the Sears/Wilson tower.

My daughter did impression of their RTC's that are halarious! Ask your son when you see him next about "snipers". Ask him, "Son, what is your job in my navy?" and for the girls another catch phrase is "Tie them boots! Tie them tight" and "I see the problem here. We're getting TOO much sleep." Em and some of the other recruits/ sailors did impressions and it was like dinner theater and gave us a big insight into what like was like. My daughter says she is actually going to miss her RTCs and say they were awsome!
