Where did you read about the 7/23/10 PIR Meet and Greet? I see the group over on the right hand side, but when I click on this, I don't see about the sashes and so forth. Is it here, somewhere else? Am I not scrolling down far enough?

Hey girls, I've been hearing a lot about engagements and proposals lately. My husband is in ship 10 div 254 and he said A LOT of guys have been approaching him lately for marriage advice (which my husband is definitely not used to giving, lol). He said a lot of the guys in his division have been considering marriage since being at boot camp. I think once they are there maybe they are realizing how much they love the woman in their life and wanting to propose..I think it's a very emotional time for all of them. I know it is for my husband. He said he never realized just how much he loved me and needed me until being so far away from me and not having much communication (awww). So I'm sure everyone else must feel the same way. Just like we are missing them like crazy!! I'm sure there's going to be a lot of glowing and beaming girlfriends after PIR! Sounds like a lot of engagements might happen :) I heard my husband's division is getting somewhat better, they are starting to pull together finally. So keep positive, 2 1/2 weeks left!!!

nnylear - I have read a lot of posts about contacts, but don't recall what the answers were. I suggest posting your question on the Boot Camp Mom's group, I'm sure someone who had that same scenario can help you! Sorry, wish I knew.

Pauley Girl - You will LOVE the fact that he is a Grad & Go over to Great Lakes A-school. And they are truly considered G&G's if they move out of RTC before Monday. After PIR is over, you can hug him and take photo's for about 15 minutes. Then he needs to go back to barracks, pack up and move over to GL across the street and be processed in. This takes anywhere from 6-8 hrs. He will then call you to pick him up. Your gate/parking pass will not work on that base, so he needs to meet you at the gate. Here's the best part: You get to keep him with you the ENTIRE weekend - those who are G&G to GL are the only ones not required to come back to RTC each evening. You can also hand him his cell phone, laptop, whatever after you pick him up that Friday evening - and he can keep them at A-School. He is still considered on "liberty", not "leave", so must follow all the rules for all new sailors (stay in uniform in public, don't travel over 50 miles away, etc.). Here's my standard disclosure: Although this is how it goes for those G&G's to GL, the Navy can always change his orders, change their minds about letting stay out overnight, etc. Be prepared for anything and you will be fine! Bring him some comfy clothes and pj's for lounging in motel room too!

OMG I Love this Rule!
It has been our rule along!!! Now we are no longer the "bad Guy" YES!

Just remind them that it needs to be a long engagement! They can't marry until after he finishes A-School - and then he still must get permission from the Navy to do so. The USN is not your typical employer!

Jackie-That is the advice I gave my son. He is 19, she is 18 and starting college in the fall. I did keep it positive which was easier because I do like her but just feel that they are too young and don't need to rush this. I also felt it was the lonelyness speaking but I didn't mention that......Thank you for the advice and for understanding.
