I couldn't agree more Tanya. Without all the support I got from N4M, I don't know how I would have survived.

Just made it back home from PIR. It was AWESOME! I am very greatful for all the friends I have made on here and those I made because of my son's contact with other parents sailors. This is a weekend I will never forget.

We had had no problems at the Ramada. Yes it is an older hotel, our room was clean. I did not feel unsafe at the hotel, actually you need a key card for each entrance. The staff went out of thier way to make us feel special. True it wasnt fancy, but the price was right. I wasnt expecting the Westin or Ritz Carlton. I would stay there for a graduation again.

Sounds like you guys really enjoyed PIR - I'm so happy for you!

You have a lot of good comments & tips, please go to the newer PIR groups and post them there - I know they would love to hear all this info, and on the Grad & Go Info group as well. Once again, Congratulations and welcome to A-School!

I just had to bring this up, for anyone in the future. We stayed at the Ramada Inn. It was awful. It smelly like a musty basement, the sheets smelled that way too. I had to buy $50 in supplies just to get the smell out of the room...and even that didn't work great. They couldn't switch my room, because they were booked. However, after going to 2 other rooms, it smelled there too. So I doubt changing rooms would have been helpful. The bathtub was stopped up, so the dirty shower water stayed at the bottom of the tub. The Navy grad gift was a water bottle, which my son liked at first. However, when he used it, he got water all over his dress whites. Nice.... Good thing it was only water. There were a few other minor details that were disappointing. Again, just wanted to give you future family members a heads up and the opportunity to try another hotel. Sorry to be a buzz kill, the graduation was wonderful, just never wanted to be in the hotel room.

My son stayed on the base, he only had to move his stuff across the street, then he stayed with us to whole weekend. He had to call in twice a day and he was back by 2000 on 8/1. It was wonderful...for the most part. Wish I was the only one there and didn't have to share him. To bad that didn't work out. LOL

Thanks to everyone for the support, love and prayers during that long eight week period where we all sat on pins and needles wondering what was going on with our recruits. PIR was a great and bittersweet end and new beginning. Words can't explain the pride I felt when I saw my son marching into the drill hall in his crisp white uniform. He has matured so much and I like all of you are so very proud of our sailors. My son's nickname is Mann and I can honestly say he has earned the new title of SAILOR MANN! Congrats and good luck to each and every one of you and a special shout out to all the guys in Ship 10 Div 258!

We got to take train to downtown Chicago had lunch with LaWokxsona before she had to go back to base - she was Grad and Go - she left 0300 the next morn, and of all things her A school is in P'cola only 2 1/2 hrs. from us - so she was @ NAS by 10:00 this morning and we were about 1/2 way - lol. Very Proud of her and All of the Sailors.

Just got back from PIR. It was amazing. I was one of the lucky ones. My son had liberty from Friday until Sunday night. Left today crying. but proud. He is spending tommorrow with his girl in Chicago. His division made Hall of Fame. Again I am so proud. Stayed at the Residence Inn which I would recommend to anyone with other children. They have a small kitchen, a pool, basketball court, a gas grill and a full complimentary breakfast.. Had an awesome time watching all of my children playing in the pool together and hearing my son's stories. The room was $100 with the graduation discount. Worth the money to have their favorite snacks, food and activity on hand
