Attention all PIR 7/30/2010 you can now go out on Recruit Training Command website under families, if you hit graduation you can get the time schedule for gradution, AND if you go under families and hit upcoming graduations you now print off your parking pass that you will need when you enter the base, you need your password that was in you form letter that came with your kid in the box. I'm so excited everything seems so real and the date is getting closer!

If you want long calls next week after BS-21, mail them another phone card today! Most are given about 45 minutes to make as many calls as they can - and each time they use the card to start a call from a pay phone, it sucks away a lot of minutes from the card.

Auto Insurance: Heads up! My son was smart to sign an authorization allowing me to discuss/change/cancel his auto insurance before he left for bc. We just sold his car (his request) and I needed that authorization to cancel his insurance! (He is 21 and had his own policy). But what is really good is the great advice I got from another N4M mom: I told the company to make a note that he is in the Navy, this way when he does buy and insure another vehicle, he will not be charged a "non-insured person fee". Auto Insurance companies frown on people who are not currently insured. So make a note of this for the future - it sure helped in our situation!

If anyone is on Facebook, the recruit training command page has pics posted of this weeks captains cup. Fun!
The facebook page is
Recruit Training Command
and I think the pics are actually of the 7/23 grad class. Our guys and gals have their Captains Cup competition this week, but not sure if we will be lucky enough to have them post them again. It is neat to see the pics though and so many faces laughing and smiling!

To parents/loved ones of Grad & Go's: Here's a simple list to mail to your recruit NOW so they can hand it to you at PIR. We lost an hour with our son because he didn't think to look at his plane ticket to see which airport he was flying out of, we had to wait until he got to the airport to use a phone to call us so we knew where to go!

Dear (son/daughter/loved one),
Once you receive your plane ticket, fill in the answers below and take it with you to PIR to hand to us after the ceremony (don't mail it to us!):

Airport_______________________________

Airline________________________________

Flight #___________________________

Flight time_________________________

First destination (if more than one flight) _____________________________________

Time the bus leave RTC_______________

Wolf Grrl, I looked back at my comments and see that a few of us asked Julie to make the ribbons for us.

Julie - how is it coming/going? Are you overwhelmed and need us to do our own?

Hello ladies, I got a call yesterday! I hope you all did as well. He says BS 21 is Wed 7/28. The division is coming together well and have gotten about 7 flags the last one being for marching. My son is Grad & Go to GL for A school as an Electricians Mate. He said they are being "pushed". I hope that means we get him for the whole weekend. They are all looking forward to PIR. He says he'll be in the back since he's tall. I told him to stay in his spot and we'll manuever to him. No time to get lost in the crowd.

We are getting so close! Yay!
One quick question, is the PIR inside?

Sobe,
We (my husband and I) loved your "bathroom story". I also appreciate your advice on how to go about writing to those not getting mail. BC is about over. I will try sending out a few letters tomorrow with my daughter's. She will probably know who to give them to. I will also keep this in mind for A school.

We are so sorry that you are not going to at our PIR or meet-n-greet. You are a HOOT!!!

cath - oh, he will, trust me. Brandon was on Head duty for a while too!

jaz04 - my son LOVED his dress whites. This was a guy who used to wear his jeans real low so his butt showed, but now he loves looking good - and they do look GOOD in their uniforms. And taller too - they finally learn how to stand straight and tall, I thought he had grown 2 inches!
