I have a quick question. Does anyone know what happens when a sailor is grad & go after boot camp that stayed in Great Lakes for A school? My husband is, and he's worried he won't get any liberty that weekend because the chief told them if they are Grad & Go, some A schools won't grant them liberty on PIR weekend. Can someone fill me in on what to expect after graduation??? Any information would be MUCH appreciated! Thanks!!!

Ohhh, Vic! 8 o'clock?? I didn't know that! That's crap. Every letter I get tells me more and more stuff that makes me wonder if they will ever pull together...I hope so!! But I'm also super excited about PIR!!! Can't wait! WHOO-HOO :D

If anyone got any info from their recruit saying he is the "assistant master at arms" please message me..my husband is the Master at Arms and he told me he hired a new assistant. From what he says he is the only "bla k guy" in ship 4 div 817. I would love to chat with you. He also said this guy is married with a baby on the way...if that helps.

Curious abut their pictures. I received a letter yesterday and he said he still has not heard anything about pictures. I thought they were doing that in the 4th week. If anyone has any information about this please let me know. His Division is still not pulling together very well either. It's sad and I'm starting to worry. However, he did say that he thinks they will do ok in the end.

Hi,
Yes my son said that too??? 8"O'Clock back on base for PIR weekend??? Said it was punishment for the division not pulling together? Ahh well.. I am sure the RDCs use whatever they need to at this point to find "what works" to get their attention.
Keep those letter going!
One thing I did that he mentioned he loved is I went on line and googled "Motivational quotes" Inspiring quotes, Quote for success, quotes to cheer you up..etc,,, and then compliled a list of them that I thought were applicable for what they were going through or that really fir his personality...He said he refers to them when he starts bogging down..

Sue - you are NOT alone! We are all a little batty and without this site, we would be worse!
Here's the items I brought to PIR:
1.Boarding passes for your flight and copy of flight itinerary
2.ID's for everyone - for flight and for PIR
3.Printed gate/parking pass - 3 copies!!!!
4.Tide Stick - for their Dress Whites
5.Several of those small packages of Kleenex for my purse
6.Name tag with my N4M user name and real name beneath it (Lisa). Our PIR group also wore red/white/blue ribbons too.
7.Binoculors - even though I got in the door by 7am and had 2nd row seats in front of his division, I still needed those things!
8.One set of clothes for him to lounge in while IN the motel room
9.His cell phone, ipod & laptop - he used the phone while in motel room and then I handed him these items at the airport (he was a Grad & Go). Don't forget the cords and chargers!!!
10. I ordered GPS in my rental car - cost $12 a day, but it was sooo worth it! Otherwise, I would of had to print out a million mapquest directions - and you never know what they might want to do and where you will be on the road when they make that decision.
11. Camera!!! And charger and extra sim cards if digital.
12. I grabbed a white towel from hotel and kept it in rental car in case we went anywhere that he might get dirty from sitting down.

Hope this helps!

Em'smom, thanks for the response. I'm sure she'll do fine. I love the dual citizenship comment. Well let me ask this, is anyone a nervous wreck like me? I am not fond of flying but honestly, have been so preoccupied with planning for PIR that I haven't had time to worry about that. As I stated to my son "as long as I have breath in my body, I'll be there!" However, I am so detailed orientated, that I don't want to overlook anything concerning this trip. I have written several list ( which i'm about to consolidate) and am constantly on N4M's looking for any & all things helpful. Still haven't decided on a hotel, will make final decision tomorrow. LOl, I'm sure my family thinks I've gone coo coo for sure! Please tell me I'm not alone.....

Here's a great video about BS-21, it's a CNN report (Navy approved!).

I feel so much better after getting a letter today too. He wishes they would get information on Sea Bees, since that is what is going into. Of course bc is all training of the ship stuff. So he is being patient to get that training in A school. He is counting down by weeks til PIR while I count down by days in my letters.
