hats off definitely to all of us single moms. Its a long hard road, and isnt this what we are looking forward to all worth it? I just cant wait! colleen I'm with you on those muffins, tortillas, cakes, bon bons etc lol. Dreams and Colleen doesnt it make you proud to know that you and only you raised that fine young man? I know it does me. Lord knows my sons dad doesnt deserve one iota of credit.

well crystall and colleen - it looks like we all have something in common besides having "almost sailors"... single mom here with an absent dad. I am so proud of both my kids (son and daughter), and this part of the journey is a very proud one for me (kind of sad that my son won't have his dad to share in this moment). But he will have the people that have loved and supported him throughout! ...and that's what counts!

Oh that trip will be fun and Reno is a blast! I too have focused on raising my children before finding a husband. My childrens dad although alive has never had much to do with the boys, never a christmas card, rarely a phone call, no child support, no birthday presents etc. It was after Dereck graduated high school that he went to visit his dad before he went off to bootcamp. I was angry that his dad didnt deserve to get to spend those last few months with my son before he shipped out. His dad got his "box" but I have gotten all of the phone calls, all of the letters, so I guess in the end, my son really needed to see what his sperm donor was truly about. He hasnt mentioned in his letters how those couple months with his dad went but I pray he is at peace with it all. I understandhow hard it is raising your children by yourself, as my dad was killed when I was 11, and I watched my mom go through rollercoasters of emotions. In the end, you pick up the pieces, straighten your backbone and keep moving on. Im sorry you lost your sons dad, and sorry that your son had to grow up without one, and sometimes it is easier that we dont remember our fathers so well. That would make it hurt more if we did remember them more.

Debbie did you get the binoculars in the grey or clack case? They were marked down from 60.00! I couldnt pass it up either. My mother is blind as a bat and we couldnt have her complaining she cant see... We always try our best to not have mom on the ill side lol

Are we all feeling this rush rush in the pits of our stomachs? We have had 8 weeks to prepare for this and what have we gotten done? well, I got a letter written everyday except for 5 and feel guilty I missed those 5 days. I did get plane tickets bought, hotel reservations made, car rental... now about those clothes, I have had to buy so many clothes because most of my clothes are in Florida. I didnt really plan on being here in Texas for the full four months I have been here. I still have to find suitcases and I have to find the bottom halves to what I want to wear. I have mostly jeans here and one pair of dress slacks. Guess I am just going to jazz it up with the jeans, but then I think about getting my pictures taken with my son in uniform- I cant wear jeans for that! oh see I am stressing over stuff like that! This is why it has taken me 8 weeks to prepare for this and I am not prepared at all!

Good Morning All!!!!!
OzMom - can so identify with what you are saying...I am of two minds! If you saw my car's bumper stickers ( "Coexist" and "US Navy" ) - I think that says it all. Never in a million years would I think that I would be a military mom. BUT I am sooooo proud of his decision and vowed to be the most supportive mom that I can be. Our sailors are very brave and I am amazed that our young peeps have made a committment to this very serious endeavor.

3 out 4 ribbons made - still have to finish mine....will do that today.
Went to Big 5 yesterday and picked up two of those $10 binoculars - they are pretty good glasses for the price. (Can't remember who shared that info previously - but "Thanks for the great idea!!")

Navyblueeyes - I have PLENTY of suitcases (we are a traveling family) and am happy to lend a few out - BUT you will have to come here and pick it up!!! No, seriously - if you need one, let me know, we can drag an empty along for you...

Really have to stay of the laptop today and get some stuff done ( and hubby wants some attention again - remember, vote for the puppy) sooooo eveyrone have a great day. Will try to check in later (maybe hubby will fall asleep while watching the ice hockey game this afternoon!!)
xxoo
PS - CAN'T WAIT TO C U ALL !!!
