thanks guys! our first deployment is in may and he will be gone a lot before then because his ship is still doing training so i really won't see him much at all this year...he will be gone at least a couple weeks in march and in april :( and i def agree nicole lee...homecoming is like valentine's day all over for us each time he comes back haha! and because of his job we get to email each other almost everyday so i'm very thankful for that

liv - im sorry..it does it easier though. good idea on the card, as long as its not a singing or SUPER flashy one..they may get in trouble!

will do!

loving- it does get easier, alot easier i'd say.

my ex (who is still one of my BEST friends) is currently deployed, and has been since late december and will be for 6 more months, its hard at first, but it does get easier. personally, i've never liked valentines day, personally. i think it's an over rated holiday, and people get worked up if they dont have someone to spend it with, me myself, i've NEVER spent a valentines day with a man, ironically. i just treat it as a normal day. i'd rather spend everyday loving, as said by whitney, and not wait an entire year to go all out one year when it's EXPECTED..wouldnt you be more shocked to have him come home and feel 10x greater to spend a belated valentines day plus homecoming all in one?

i def agree whitney! now that i think about it i've never really liked v-day for that reason haha. i did find him a card last week though that is seriously like 1 foot tall but i think i'll wait to give it to him when he gets back! i found it at a cvs pharmacy lol

My boyfriend will be in boot over Valentine's day and i got him a card that was perfect! It says something about loving him everyday even though we're far away and im counting down the dayls until i get to see him again. its PERFECT!!

does anyone know if the recruits are allowed to recieve cards? its not a huge one or really thick. and its not all glittery or sings lol

girl you can celebrate a holiday any day! But personally I would rather be shown immense love every day then just one day a year. that until 130 years ago was just a normal day......

So I just got off the phone with my boyfriend who is going underway tomorrow. He will be gone for 5-6 weeks for training and we'll be e-mailing each other until he gets back. This isn't the first time he has left, but I thought maybe it would be easier this time since it's nothing new, but I'm feeling a little sad tonight, especially since he will be gone during valentine's day :( Does anybody find it gets a little easier over time?
Comment by LivFutureSailor(Ship 12 Div 099) on January 18, 2011 at 9:45pm

I was putting in a request for that but its very physically demanding but one day i might put in a request for aircrewman. Im going in as an AV- Aviation Electronic (AE), Aviation Electronics technician (AT). AV splits into the two rates AE and AT after A school. which ever you are better at is the one you get. but after A school i want to go to officer school/get my degree, and become a pilot :D

You'll have to let us know how it goes when you go to MEPS! :)

Comment by nicole~a sailors girl(: on January 18, 2011 at 6:18pm

I have not been to MEPS, i'm only 16, but December 14th of this year will be the day I sign. W. parent permission, then i will be going(:

I reallllyy want Aviation rescue swimmer. Hby?
