SAILOR RESCUE LIST

For those who wish to help those sailors in need when having to travel far from home or base!

Members: 215
Latest Activity: Apr 2, 2019

Thanks to the many moms and more that are here and ready to help when a sailor is in need! It is amazing to know that no matter where our sailors travel in the United States there is a mom there ready to rescue them with a hot meal, place to stay, or help to get back on the road!

To be added to the list send me (Susan mom to Niko) a friend request. Then you can send me a private message with your name, location and phone number. Then you are added to the list!

Call me crazy but where is the general discussion?

A post in general discussion is looking for someone to help a Sailor with a broken down care in WV.

You ladies make me so proud to be part of this effort... I have the list ready to go if needed! I also added the list of airports with USO's.. sometimes that is all a sailor needs... If you have a USO close to you offer your name if they are full and there is someone in need! Or drop off cookies or a cake... I can guarantee it will be welcomed and enjoyed!

Susan, I think you have my info but like Kathleen just want to make sure. I live in Springfield, Missouri and if there is ever a serviceman needing some help just let me know. We have the Branson Springfield Airport here and I know that I am on the way to Ft. Leonardwood if someone is driving and just needs some place to bed down or to get a good home cooked meal.

There are 3 airports here in Ohio that we can go to if need be. They are in Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnatti.

Really simple Melissa! Add me as a friend then you can send a private message to me. Include your name, location and phone number... there is always room for more willing and able moms and more on the list! Thanks for volunteering!

Jana... just checked my toes... they don't feel stepped on a bit... tehehe Sorry I have such a silly sense of humor. I don't think anyone is wanting to hurt anyones feelings. As I said before I am delighted to have the offers of help... just don't know how to apply it to this project right now. Be assured if I can find a way to involve others I will be the first to ask!

If you are missing your sailor and want something to fill some time come and join us in the Molly's Adopt a Sailor group! There are about 400+ moms, aunts, grandmas and more who every month adopt a group of deployed sailors. This past month we adopted the ship USS Crommelin! We sent boxes and boxes of cards and letters and all the stuff needed for a luau party. The Crommelin is based out of Hawaii so we wanted to send them something they would be missing!

It is great fun and we have adopted groups from Djibouti Africa to Afghanistan to Iraq to the high seas! Along the way, we have heard from grateful sailors that sometimes only receive a card or letter through this project. Some don't have family or their families are just not great at correspondence. But the letters from home are the best rescue that could ever happen in their lives!

There is also a discussion on that page that lists guys and gals that are needing a little extra love! Some have been injured while on duty, some on the way home, some have lost their lives. So we send what we can... sometimes that is just a card letting them know they are not forgotten and sometimes it might be a dvd to watch or puzzle book to pass the time.

Just a warning... it becomes so much fun it is addictive! You get good at watching sales for fun things to send your sailor and you pick up one extra for the adoptive group...

Thanks again for volunteering... know that I have your name bookmarked if needed.

Phewww... thought maybe I was not answering a need or missed a rescue! I must say I have been pretty amazed that we seem to catch and respond to each need within a matter of an hour or two. If we ever grow in leaps and bounds splitting the list would be great... just not sure we need to now.... but I am always happy to hear there are willing moms out there!

Not sure what it is you want to get off the ground or divide up??? The list has names and numbers that people have provided. I have them entered by state. When there is a rescue posted I look up in the book for someone close to assist. Really not much more to do...
