There is also a decent Wikipedia entry on Corry Station, with a list of the recreation available to sailors at Corry.

I went on Google Maps to "see" Corry Station as soon as I learned where he was going. It's a pretty small place, as Navy bases go. Much smaller than the NAS. The old airstrips are used as roads and parking lots. There are also a lot of fast-food places just across the road from Corry, though they aren't allowed to go there without a buddy. I figure for the first few weeks at least Chris should be pretty happy with the amenities they have, from the giant NEX to the pool and recreation center.

How far away is Corry form NAS? Is Corry a much smaller area? Are your Sailors enjoying being there? My son will be headed down there in about 2 and one half weeks. I think right now anywhere but the GL and the cold is better!!

This is worse than boot camp. When Chris was in boot camp I knew approximately what he was doing, what his day was like, and I knew he was supervised and not doing something stupid, or being led down bad paths by guys more worldly than he is (I admit he's a bit naive).

Now he has a whole base to explore, he said he already met a girl, etc. He's doing his own thing. And spectacularly able to get in trouble in some way or another. This will actually be easier on me once he hits the fleet, when he has school behind him and sparks on his arm.

Chris is only an E-1, I'm hoping he can at least get E-2 or maybe E-3 before he heads out to the fleet. It would be rough spending two whole years in the Navy as a crank.

We need to start a campaign to get all the Corry moms to come here instead of the general Pensacola group. I tend to get confused when they talk about the NAS stuff and when it does/does not apply to our sailors.

She has years yet, she's only in the 7th grade. She just likes to plan these things.

Okay, I heard something about making E-4 if they finish IT school in a month. I assume this is just for E-3s? They can jump up one in rank? Can someone give me more information?

Chris has only been there one day and already he is LLD. Medical thinks he has strep throat. Ugh. He just got off of SIQ last week for a nasty "purple octopus rings" rash (probably caused by chemicals in the water at BS21) and pink eye. He has never been sick so often in his life! I think they're inventing new illnesses just for him. It's a test, right? LOL.

I am pretty sure there is since Shawn said he needed me to be there to sign something since he was getting help with our taxes.

I don't think Chris will finish quickly. He's very methodical, everything perfect and in it's place, but he takes his time doing it. He may take the whole 11 weeks, but he also may get the top score in doing it.

I found some tape, neon yellow duct tape for the purpose, LOL. My daughter has been collecting colored duct tape for years, she wants to do the duct tape prom dress contest thing.
