Yeah one of the other groups i'm in told me about this group. My husband is a CTT and an E3. I really enjoy talking with women on these groups. I don't know what is to come or what to expect so it's nice to hear about what others have gone threw and know of.

Chris is the luckiest young sailor in the Navy.

Today he learned that his entire class' graduation is delayed one week, and he has that week to finish his mods. He has 23 mods to finish in five days, and his classmates told him they are easy to middling in difficulty, so he should be able to finish five or six each day.

We should know by Thursday evening, maybe sooner. It's not looking great at the moment but there is still hope. Our greatest hopes are that 1) he somehow manages to do all 28 mods by Thursday evening - possible, he has done as many as 29 in 3 days - or 2) they give him another week, possibly pushing him back to the next class.

It really is best for the Navy to keep Chris where he is. He's not fast, but he's good. That same methodical process he uses that makes him slow but talented with computers and electronics can be valuable, but could get someone killed in a line-handling situation as a deckhand. His reactions to unexpected events simply aren't very fast, by the time he realizes what's happening either he or one of his shipmates would be dead.

HUAW!

Chris said that about half of his class has received orders. He is of the half that has not, but then they may be holding his orders until they know whether/when he will graduate.

He did 12 mods today. I suspect they are shorter/easier mods, but still, 12 mods is not bad at all.

I feel like a yo-yo. Chris must feel worse.

Chris is still in school, and catching up. Today he was told to go to class as usual. If he manages to catch up before the paperwork to kick him out of school is complete, he gets to stay, they said. So he's working his hiney off, taking two sessions per day instead of the usual one. He finished eight mods today (the most he has finished is four) and is now in the same section as the others in his class. He says the instructors think he can do it.

Talk about a roller-coaster ride. Poor Chris was in tears on Tuesday, today he was jazzed. If they kick him out after giving him so much hope again, it might break him. This is cruel and unusual.

Chris scored a 77 on the ASVAB, good but not spectacular. Most of his high line scores were in the tech/computer area. If this doesn't work out there will likely be something else for him... if they don't break his spirit with this craziness.

Chris officially failed out of IT school today. His grades were fine but he was too far behind. Slow and steady doesn't always finish the race. =~(

Now there are two possibilities. If there are any schools with openings that his ASVAB scores fit, he may be assigned to another school. If there are no school openings, he will go to the fleet undes.

Chris is pretty down on himself right now. Very upset. He is downright terrified they'll put him in a non-technical type rate. He HATES doing physical work that doesn't require technical skill and knowledge.

Here's photos of the Millington Personnel Center - while the enlisted data is safe on the second floor, the detailers and their families were flooded out of their homes and it may be a long time before they can return to work.

Chief Hoppi says that they are being told that if you don't have your orders already in hand, do not transfer.
