Well, my son has gotten his orders.  He's going to Hawaii early next year and will be attached to a Marine Unit.  I can't believe he has been in Naples for nearly two years.  The things that he has seen and done are just amazing.  Rome, Paris, Barcelona, London, Budapest, Milan to name a few!  Amazing adventure awaits for those that are just getting there.  Enjoy!

Karen..I remember when Philip graduated A School going through the same thing!!  We were lucky and he did get his flight just in time to leave right after graduation but not everyone did.  Apparently those shipping out to go overseas are the ones that don't get their tickets on time the most often.  However, I think once they get their tickets they are still given their 2 weeks although I'm not 100% positive I seem to recall that happening to one of Philip's friends that was going to Guam.  I'll be thinking about you!!  I know it's hard waiting!

I'm on pins and needles. My son graduates tomorrow and last night he called to say he had not received his plane ticket/itinerary to know if he was actually going to get to come home for his 2 weeks leave before heading over to Italy.  I'm hoping to hear from him tonight.

Karen...My Son is an MA3 and has been in Naples for about 2 months now.  He was in Norfolk for his first command.  He absolutely LOVES Naples!!  He had great friends in Norfolk but he said when you live in a country where everyone speaks a different language you form a closer comradrie with your Buddies.  He's made so many new friends in the short time he's been there.  He's living on the small base "Capo" and changes his mind daily whether he wants to live on base or off base.  He lived off base in Norfolk and had a car but he's finding that living on base in Naples is not that bad.  He is looking to buy a car...YIKES that scares me b/c they drive really crazy over there!!  We have to let them go though and I just have to put my faith in God to keep him safe!  You'll have to inbox me your son's full name and I'll have my son watch out for him.

Donna - it's hard to find the time!  I know with my little one starting school, I'll be MIA a lot.  Plus I do four 10 hour days which doesn't leave much time during the week, but I love my three day weekends.

Sheryl - Ha, ha... there is no telling what my crazy, high energy son has been doing!  So glad you got to see Max, even if it's a short time.  Sometimes it's good for the soul and a Mom's heart just to see their child.

Debbie - Oh my goodness.  So sorry to hear about your Mom.  We actually hit ten years on August 1 since we lost our Mom and it's rough.  So, so sorry.  Hope Stephen is doing good.  Sounds like you may need some time in Michigan to reflect.

Karen - Welcome to the group!  You son is going to love Naples!  We never got the chance to go visit Jamie.  He'll be leaving there at the end of the year and has seen and done so much  Tons of history over there!

Have a great week everyone!

HI, sorry I have not been around my mom passed away and I spent the summer in Florida with my Dad and now I am back to work.

How is everyone doing and how are your sailors doing?

Carrie, so Amber had a boy, I am so happy for her, congrats Grandma!  Do you have any pictures I would love to see some.  How long did you get to stay with her in Italy?

Ladies please catch me up about your sailors, I would love to hear what everyone is doing.  Stephen will be out of the Navy in November and he is looking forward to it.  Lets catch up!

Hi everybody! My son is graduating A school as a Master at Arms Aug 10 and has orders to Naples, Italy.  He is supposed to come home for 2 weeks leave before heading over the end of August.  I'm hoping to learn more about his surroundings and maybe go visit him sometime while he is there.
