Sheryl - so sorry to hear about the loss of Max's grandfather. I'm sure his Navy friends will keep a close eye on him. They become very close to one another.
Jana - I know what you mean about not being able to communcate as much. Jamie will send me texts and emails or messages through facebook. We haven't used skype in a long time. I think the time difference has a lot to do with it. The last couple of times we skyped it was on the weekend when half the world is trying to do the same thing. LOL - the tatoo thing is funny. I think Jamie is the only 22 year old left without a tatoo.
Sorry I haven't posted on here in a while. I was trying to ask my son exactly what his job is and all I can get out of him is "basically I can do everything needed to take care of anybody" whatever that means. He is working at the naval hospital in Naples. I think he told me that he has to work in the ambulance 3 weekends a month or something like that too. It is strange not being able to text or talk on the phone and we have missed each other on Skype several times, so most of the time we just send each other messages on facebook. I am going to try my best for my daughter and I to go visit him next summer. She is graduating from high school next year and I think that will be a good graduation present for her. He told me that he was going to Rome last weekend for a tattoo convention or something. I'm not sure if he was just kidding with me or if he was serious. With him, it's hard to tell!!
Welcome Donna! My son is on the tail end of his tour in Italy. He has seen and done some amazing things!
Emily - I'm jealous too! The two years goes by so fast and it doesn't look like we'll visit before our son is scheduled to leave! I will visit Hawaii come hell or high water!
How is everyone else doing?
Pam, it is always so hard when they go back, I always hated that. Hawaii, I know a lot of sailors there and they love it, so I bet he will love it. I am glad he can get out of Italy some cannot. Well all you can do it wait and see. I am so glad you had a nice visit. I will keep your son in my prays and thoughts, I always do.
Lots of rain now here in Chicago, but at lease the weather is getting a little warmer, I would love to plant but cannot do that at lease until Mother's Day. Nice 80, I will take that temp. lol Take care Pam and talk to you soon.
Hi everyone! How is everyone doing and how is your sailors doing?
The visit was great, but way too fast. All of us just kind of moped around the weekend he went back to Naples. Took a couple days to get used to him not being home again.
So sorry you guys are cold. We are having a heat wave down here. Upper 80's! Little early in the year to be that warm, but I won't complaint after spending too many winters up North.
Well, he has tentatively gotten his next set of orders. Hawaii it is!! For three years. Amazing! He will be attached to a Marine Unit this time and it looks like deployment is in our future. But I will cry over that bridge when it comes I guess.
lol Pam that is so funny. One time when Stephen came home he ate all the way home from the airport. He looks really good. How is the visit?
Jana, welcome! Your son is going to love Naple. What does your sailor do?
Cold here in Chicago, and raining but the weather is going to change this week and get a little warmer but we are suppose to still get rain.
Stephen is doing great, waiting for his results for his E5, I have my figures crossed.
Hope all is well with everyone!
Welcome Jana! I haven't been on too much because my Sailor is home on leave for the first time in 15 months!! He left for Naples in December, 2010. He has seen Paris, Rome, London, Barcelona and Budapest. Amazing! I have missed him terribly though and like Rachel's Mom said, skype is great as long as it is working! We have better luck during the week when there is not as many people on. I still can't get over the fact he has no cell phone now. He said the service is expensive and after he lost/broke his third phone he decided just to keep the itouch he has. What is your son going to do in Naples? My son is Corpsman and works at the smaller Capo base.
