Stephen flight was cancelled because he could not get into GA.  So he flew out of O'Hare instead of Midway.  That was even a better flight he went to Rome then Naples.  The first flight was taking him to GA, then Paris and then Naples, I watched his flight on the computer, he arrived back safe and sound, miss him already, I did not have enough time with him, and he told me he was not ready to go back yet, another week would of been wonderful.

Hi Robin, Sharon, Carrie!

Pam they do have a kitchen for them to cook in but you have to clean up after yourself, most don't have the time or want to bother.  They do BQ a lot so that is fun.  The small items he should buy at the NEX send him money it is probably cheaper then shipping everything.

Pam he can buy things in the NEX and if he can get a ride to Support Side there NEX is even bigger.  They give them one set of sheets, pillows and a blanket, a bed and a deck, small refrigerator and microwave.  Stephen bought a dresser and a few other items from sailors that were leaving, got them cheap.

LOL Pam, I know that is crazy. I always feel bad for Stephen but he is not fading away. LOL  But they work long hours and then they have to come home and find something to eat or go to subway, that is on base, but Stephen said he will never eat subway again.  Yes you do have to fill out paper work for each box.  I keep all of that at home and fill it out before I go.  I send everything in them food, clothes, digital photo frame, Stephen camera and never had any problems.  What I have learn I do not insure it anymore because once it is in the military hands it is no longer insured so it is a waste of money.  Pam where is he on base room #, I wonder if he is close to Stephen???

Thanks Robin, maybe that's why he asked me to send his UGA rug!!

I have a question regarding sending to FPO.  Is it normal to fill out a customs form since it's going to a FPO?  The lady from the post office said that I had to fill them out for each box - I'm sending some of Jamie's shoes and clothes that he wanted shipped.  I also didn't realize that he doesn't get much of anything in his barracks.  They don't even have a mess hall where he's at on Capo.  So I want to get a box together of basics like paper towels, soap, shaving cream, toilet paper etc.  Can I send that stuff to him?  I talked to him on Skype today and he seemed a little "down" more from the boredom of the in-processing classes they have him going through.  I think he's ready to get to work and start being a Corpsman!!  He has a microwave and small apartment size fridge is all.  Apparently, even though there's no mess hall, they're not allowed a kitchen because it's a fire hazard.  Bizarre!!  Thanks ladies!

Thanks for all the tips.  I will keep them in mind.  I have a four year old that will be starting kindergarten in the Fall of 2012, so we'll be tied down with school schedules again.  It might be better to go Spring of 2012 then.  Are the winters mild there?

Well, we are on third day of being snowed in in Georgia.  Definately getting old now and ready to get out of this house!!  Our normal temps this time of year are in the low 50's and we have been barely getting out of the 30s.  Brutal.  Jamie sent me a message on FB and said they had a hail storm there the other day, but then it was beautiful that afternoon.

Carrie - tell Amber to hook up with Devin, they are leaving for London on the 14th I believe, him, and 2 others, it's Stephanie's birthday so they are going there to celebrate, the more the merrier!  I'm sure they see each other at work, Dev's been doing the OB surgical stuff.

Still in the planning and money saving stages Carrie!  Hopefully Summer of 2012 since Jamie will be reaching the end of his duty at the end of 2012.   He is having the time of his life over there.  I also seen Amber C and Stephen through Jamie's Facebook pages.  Nice to put faces with names.  We are having the storm of the century here in Georgia and I am so over this winter.  Jamie had to rub salt in my wound by telling me it was "nice" over there.  Darn him!

Sharon, after P-Cola, he came home for 3 weeks, that was so wonderful.  And hopefully he will come home between his next base, but he will only have two weeks.
