My son is stationed in Naples, he has been there for a year, loves it.  He is a Corpsman in the pediatric clinic on the main base.  There are good people there.

No sorry I don't know  anyone on that base.

My son found out today that he'll be in Gaeta. Does anyone have any info about that particular base?

Zach is in Great Lakes TSC right now. S-PACT is Seaman Undesignated. He had a high ASVAB score and supposedly, it was either that job or bodyguard for clergymen. He can strike for a rating as an E-4. That's what he was told.

Thank you Debbie! Zach leaves for Naples next month, so I'll be asking away very soon and be sure to update his status.

Pam, that is wonderful he loves the Navy, and thinking about re-uping, I wish him the best of luck.  How long has he been home?  Yes you never know after three years what he will be thinking but it is a good choice for some of them, jobs are hard to find.  I have heard a lot of them getting out and going back to school that is a good thing too.  How wonderful to go to HA for you 25th anniversary.  We went there for our 10th anniversary and we  had a wonderful time, now we have been married for 30 years maybe it is time to go back there again.  I was amazed all they offer to the military for a loan it is wonderful.

Zman's Mom - My son just left after spending two years at the Naples base.  He loved his time there and traveled quite a bit, but he is a Corpsman.  He bought a motorcyle while he was there.  The only bad thing he had to say was the city of Naples itself was pretty nasty.  I know he is missing his friends something terrible now.  He left mid-Dec. and has been home on leave since.  Since he will be attached to a Marine Division next (in Hawaii), he sold a lot of his stuff before he left.  The barracks in Hawaii are very small compared to what he had in Naples.  I think your son is going to love it!

Debbie - Jamie is ready to get back to work.  Boredom has set in.  LOL.  He has another three years on his contract, but he's already talking about re-uping.  We'll see if that stays the same after he spends three years with the Marines.  My husband and I had already planned on our 25th wedding anniversary (Dec. 2013) in Hawaii so it all works out good!  We'll have to work around Jamie's deployment, but I am looking forward to it.  Glad to hear Stephen is doing good.  We bought our first house in Indiana using VA and loved the experience.

Pam I am so glad he is stateside, it makes you feel good when they are home.  I wish him a lot of luck, I bet he will love it out there.  I have a friend that her sailor is in HA and just loves it.  I bet you are saving to go see him, that will be a wonderful trip.  How much longer does he have in the Navy?
