Anita - Your Sailor will need to put the names of all who will be attending on a list (They give it to their XO or team leader - I'll have to double check on exactly who) - and then you will need your i.d, proof of insurance, like for PIR.
They will issue your pass for however long you plan to stay and you will show that along with your i.d (for everyone in the vehicle), each time you go on base. Don't forget, they have AF graduations on Fridays, as well - can get just a *little* congested!
And - I can't remember who was asking about transportation for their Sailor this weekend, but my son said to use "Mac T" transportation - he said it was the most reasonable - and at least somewhat safe drivers!
PS thanks Adele for your advice , sorry I left that out of my last comment LOL>>
Thanks for all of the info. Will just be me, his dad and sister going to Graduation. I assume he will get his Dad to Pin his badge on him (even though I would LOVE to do it) lol. You Moms know what I mean?>> It will be special for his Dad to get to do that though. Sounds a little like BC check in , we decided not to drive to BC because of the possible long wait but here it sounds very small. I am looking forward to seeing him and cooking him some food. Brenda Sue we have decided to stay at Howard Johnsons Inn and Suites on Hwy. 90 west. Is that an ok place to stay? I liked it because it had a full kitchen and was very reasonable (52) a nite.
Lemonelepohant where is your sailor now ? How has MA gone for him since he has been in ? My son will go to Pax River Maryland after his MWD trainning in San Anotonio. Just curious to see what has happened to these that have been in a while.
Hunter's Mom, San Antonio has the only A School for MA's at this time. In the past there were also A Schools in Hampton Roads, VA and Kings Bay, GA and then they closed them and gradually transferred all of the MA training to San Antonio. My Sailor was originally set to have A School in Virginia, but in his last week in BC, he got word he was going to San Antonio instead. That was October 2008. The Virginia A School for MA's closed about that time. MA's still may go to Virginia or Kings Bay for additional trainings at times after A School. I hope that helps to clarify things.
EVERYONE is glad to come to TEXAS!!
Welcome!!!
