Anita - There is not a Navy Lodge on base that I know of, however there are some AF lodges - I'm going to attach a link for lodging near the base, as well:

http://www.ihsadvantage.com/h/reserve_hotels/lackland_afb/tx/united...

and here's the link for the AF lodges (Most are "Gateway"):

We stayed at the Howard Johnsons, less than a mile from the base - it was about $65 per night. Not fancy, but a place to sleep and there's a Denny's just down the road.

If you do decide to go to one of the places on base, your son will have to be present when you check in, unless you already have a military ID (If you didn't already know that!).

Our son graduated Jan. 7, 2011. Congratulations!

my daughter said there is a navy lodge on base, around $30/nite, your sailor can make the arrangements for you if there is availability.  good luck and congrats!

Isn't there a Navy Lodge on base?  There are much cheaper places in San Antonio than Embassy Suites. It is a pretty large city and they have most of the chain hotels.

Any suggestions for  places to stay in San Antonio that is not sooo expensive??? We are going for his A school graduation Feb 25th? I have looked around, read replies etc. Embassy Suites sounds nice for like 109 a nite, not sure about those that are 60 a nite?? Any help would be appreciated!!

Sometimes Sailors share the cost of internet since it is so expensive,

Finally received a call from Chris. He sounds great and is happy to be in SA.  He told me that in order to get internet for his laptop he has to pay 50 a month. I was surprised to hear that. I figured that there would be wi fi hot spots.  He also said they have to pay for cable. I laughed considering that for the last two months he never saw a TV. lol....

Justins mom.  April 1 seems such a short time away. Are you planning to go to the their graduation? I think I am going to go.

Kelly...Our sons may be there together, Justin is with Chris from 911.  April 1 should be their grad date.  He sounded good and was glad to be away from the snow!

I was reading some of the posts and was going to let those of you who may attend the MA graduation - check with your Sailor, but he/she can choose someone to pin their newly acquired badge on them.  It's kind of a formal/informal ceremony.

Our son had his father pin him - I took pictures!  The C.O. was VERY nice and gracious!  He came around and shook hands with those in attendance, welcomed us and thanked us for coming.  (Small crowd of maybe 20-30, besides the graduates)

Hi cris, our son was telling us last night that he is probably going to end up in WA too. I was relieved. When does your daughter graduate?
