what is MSRON?  he certainly has seen alot of places! i wonder how he is liking the ship.

I don't think it was a surprise.  He is part of a MSRON and I think that is what they do.

He has gone to Kuwait and the oil platforms (during the hot summer), Seychelles (look that one up - amazing).  He has spent lots of time in Italy and Spain.  This is his first "ship ride".  I have not heard from him in a week so I don't know if he is enjoying it!

wow Brenda Sue.  Did he know he would be moving around alot when he got his "station"?  i guess i am naive, but i thought that if they stationed them someplace when they graduated A school that they were there until however long their orders said for that particular location until they were sent to the next place.

hhmm - he was "stationed" in Portsmouth, Virginia - but he goes off on deployments.  Currently, he is on a ship (last i heard from him a week ago) somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea!  He has been in Spain since  November.

Thanks Brenda Sue.  Where is your son stationed?

Heard from my son again tonight. He sounded very upbeat. Said the food is 10x better and he gets liberty every night......oh, and wanted to make sure I had mailed him his phone!

CCO727 - I bet it all depends~ My son graduated A school in the middle of April - but did not get to come home (for the first time since boot camp) until the end of May!

Good morning! : ) does anyone know how it works as far as flying home after a school grad before reporting to their new duty station?
Comment by MinnesotaMom on February 2, 2011 at 9:19am
I strongly recommend you send the laptop directly with them on the flight.  My son only took his cell phone and had me ship his laptop.  Mailed it Jan 18th ..UPS states that it arrived the 21st and he still hasn't seen it.  :(     Send it with them if you can.
