Marti and/or Cris when did your sailors leave GL for SA? Did they fly out of O'Hare or Midway? I'm trying to figure out how to get my son his things after graduation, I have to fly out of Midway early Saturday afternoon.

My son was told Saturday or Sunday it would be next week.  Then yesterday before lunch him and another guy was out Raking Dirt they came and told them they were classing up after lunch.  So he started after lunch yesterday he also Graduated boot camp on 12/3/2010.  I know he was upset when they told him next week. It has already been 3 weeks of racking leave which has turned into racking dirt for all leaves are gone now. Cris I hope your Daughter start for sure next week.

Laurie- RTC posted on their facebook page that only those attending A school in GL were considered G&G. My rct called on Monday which was day 2-6 and he didn't know anything yet about his departure, do you know about what stage of boot camp they find out this info?

A grad and go may even leave Friday night. You will probably only get a few hours in the afternoon. Be in line for PIR by 630-7am. PIR, then lunch. He will have to be back at a certain time. Be ready with a list of questions when he calls. Look for 847 area code for his call. It may say pay phone on the caller id. Only he will be able to give you all the details, but get your questions ready. Also look back through boot camp thread. hope this helps

I currently have a rct at GL who has a PIR date of 1/28/2011. I was curious if any of you expereienced MA moms could share some info about what his schedule might be like that weekend. I was told by his recruiter that he would be a G&G and I'm assuming he will be a Saturday departure. I'm planning on meeting him at the airport so I can give him his personal things before he leaves. Just looking for any helpful hints....thanks

Hey aMom -

My son spent time moving furniture and taking up carpeting in the barracks after he arrived.  There was about two weeks of "down time" before classes started.  They will find them things to do!

They will get the OC spray, usually by the second week of training.  If you go to youtube.com, you can find several videos showing what they go through (Just type in Navy Master at Arms and it should pull up several selections).

They'll learn First Aid, how to handle guns / shooting (Target shooting), the proper way to do a take-down and cuffing, within the first three weeks or so.  My son is finishing up the tactical portion, with a big test today and the final PTR and testing on January 3, when stand-down is over.  Graduation is January 7!

aMom - there are several discussions on this page that you might just want to read through.

Welcome to the world of MA's!

Hello Moms!
My son will not be heading to A School until 1/15. Curious about what they will be doing if they do not get to start right away? What kind of accommodations do they have during A School? Is there a web site that explains what they can expect over the 7 weeks?
