Hi Heather, My Daughter is currently in MA school. She had a bit of a set back last week. She failed the weapons test and was sent back a week. She called me crying and very upset. She was also part of the leadership for her group but lost that since she was sent back so it was a bad day!...It's hard seeing your child in pain but it's part of life. She was to graduate before Christmas and now it will be a few weeks after. She will be there for Thanksgiving so I hope they all join together and have a good one. I don't know of any FB page but if anyone else knows of one let me know. Welcome to our group! I hope your son continues to do well!!
JT said today was a good day.... Already loving the weather and has a group planning a Thanksgiving feast!! LOL!! That's my boy the grill master!! :) Always loves getting together with family and friends and food!! He arrived Saturday! And his roommate graduates Wednesday. Said he will be without a roomy for a week. Said he is actually not looking forward to that.
Looking forward to talking to everyone on here....
Also is there a FB page???
LaceyJaeC, yes, the new Sailors may be able to go home over the holiday stand down--some for Christmas and others for New Year's Eve, but not for both. Not a lot has been posted on here about how the holiday stand down works at Lackland, but as I understand it, the recruits will put in for 5-10 days and then will be told when to report to SA. Those reporting before the end of the holiday stand down will be on Hold and stand watch and do things that always have to be done. Your SR will have to find out if he has to report to SA before being granted leave or will leave straight from GL.
My husbands PIR is 12-21-2012. I've heard he'll be able to come home for Christmas through rumor? Have any of you ever had this happen?
Jennnyi: His duty station is Little Creek. You would think they would pick sailors who would be good sponsors. I feel your frustration. On top of him not calling back my sailor is flying to Virginia on Thanksgiving. It's so hard to get use to military life. He's only 19 and has done more traveling then I ever have.
Hello everyone. I just joined the group. My daughter just graduated bc this Friday and arrived in San Antonio Sat. morning. She is waiting for class to start.
Lynda, what duty station in VA is he going to? My husband is going to Oceana and has been calling his sponsor and emailing him for over a month and he hasn't gotten any response from phone calls or email. It is really frustrating!
My sailor graduated this past Friday from A school in San Antonio for MA schooling. He was given a phone number for his sponsor for his duty station in Virginia. He's left a couple of messages for the sponsor to call him back. Any suggestions of what he should do if his sponsor doesn't call him back?
