Sorry, he said the same thing as your daughter. First Nov 30, then last night no..Dec 3.
Bullindy, Did he give you the November date or Dec?
MyAngel94..I just talked to my son last night and he gave me the same graduation date.
MyAngel94, they fly out the same day and the time depends on flight availability. Only she will be able to tell you her flight plans. She can find out and let you know and perhaps you can be on the same flight,
Guitar5150's mom- Thank you for the helpful info. I've been wondering about going. I want to, but not sure if it's going to be affordable for me. Plus I think mine graduates around Christmas and I looked at plane tickets and they were $500 due to holiday pricing. Your post was very inspiring though and I'm going to do everything I can to go, and appreciate the info you posted here.
Congratulations to your son!
Just went to graduation in San Antonio. Recommend Best Western Plus Sunset Suites at River Walk. Close enough to walk down town. Easy drive to the base. We took our GPS and did not have any trouble finding the base. We arrived the night before to get our gate passes. Your SA must put you on the list. The hotel had free parking and a nice continental breakfast. Enjoyed our stay and was able to spend the weekend with our son after graduation. Not many parents were there. It was worth the money and the trip to get to spend time with our son. He thanked us more than once for coming. They really work hard to get to this point. I recommend going if you can. We loved our trip and time with our son.
They can choose someone to do the pinning--a fellow Sailor or one of the chiefs or other instructors. If you plan to surprise her, you still better let her know no later than the day before so she can get you on the list and so you can get the paperwork taken care of to get on base for graduation. You must have a sponsor to get on base and she will also have to let you know where the graduation will occur.
